The Fallen Pole On My Street

Hi my fellow Hibeans, I am glad to be participating in this week's #sublimesunday. It is with joy and a mixture of sadness that I write this post. This very day, I was at home having some story time with my families when the sharp and heavy sound came from outside my residence. I ran out immediately to see for myself the cause of this noise. Only to see that an electrical power supply pole has fallen. I have notice that this pole is not very strong weeks ago and have penned a writing to the power office only for them not to come or arrange for replacement until the pole fell. Now this will cost them more as my Landlord said he will sue for the minor damages and for attempted murder. His point was that if they do not have a motive to hurt someone, they would have acted swiftly. I am glad for three things

  1. There was no power supply as at when it feel
  2. It did not fall on any vehicle nor any human
  3. It was not a raining day. Else, something bad might have happened.

The Fallen Pole

As a result of this fallen pole, we took it upon ourselves to cut down every other trees around and clear the area. This is mainly to have a clear view of the axis. Again, during the installation of the new pole there will be enough visibility so that they can mount the pole firmly.

Aside the fallen pole that has copper wires, another affected thing is ISP's that have their fibre cables on the pole. As a Fiber Optic Technician, I have done my part in tidying the fibre cables properly to prevent attenuation or damaged cable which will result in down time.

All photographs are mine.
