SOME SAD MISTAKES

Sometimes we try to avoid certain mistakes, but then we realize we have already made them and are heart broken. I never really understood how my dad felt when he mistakenly sent 300,000 to someone he was supposed to send just 3,000 naira to and the person only saw an opportunity to run away with the money. Even though I could see the pain in his eyes as he talked about it, I couldn’t really relate. That event forced him to get the medicated lasses he had been postponing to get ever since and even though I hate to say it, that was just the push he needed.

I came to understand the heartache that comes with doing the wrong transfer many years later after I sent about 90 hive to the wrong account. What happened was I had been saving money to clear out some debts, and I decided to exchange some of the money for cash in a bid to pay off my debts only for me to realize at the last moment that I did not do the transfer with a memo. Normally exchange sites use memos to track the transactions of every user, and since I did not have a momo, according to their policy, my hive was gone for good. This is just one of the many instances where I made a wrong transfer because I have made it on a number of occasions.

I remember the very first time I made such a mistake, it was three years ago while still in the higher institution. It was my second time withdrawing on hive, and I sent HBD instead of hive and waited for the coin to drop in my exchange wallet but it never did. That was when I realized I had made a mistake by sending HBD instead of hive because HBD is not listed on the exchange platform. It was disheartening for me though, because that was supposed to be food money, but there was nothing I could do but bear the hunger at the end of the day.
