Fish drying is one the most oldest and traditional way of preserving food. Long before the invention of machines that preserve our good and the discovery of additives and preservatives, human learn to preserve food. Preserving food is vital for survival as there are times when the source of food is scarce. This led to finding ways in preserving and storing food for the days to come.
I bought a lot of fish yesterday because the price was cheaper. Then, I realized why not preserve and store some of the fish. Hence, my son love to eat dried fish so I decided to make my own sun dried fish. There is no secret of fish drying, we just need a good heat from the sun and enough amount of salt to do the process. I prefer melting the salt in 3 cups of water and dipping the fish for two hours. After the dipping, I immediately lay down each one in a piece of plywood and exposed it under the heat of the sun. I put it in our roof to avoid cats from snatching it and to avoid exposure from flies and other insects that may contaminate the fish. Within the day, I was able to dried the fish without any problem.
Time to put my finished product to the taste test. I just put a little bit oil and fried the fish. Paired with a cup of coffee. Just a perfect combo for breakfast. Happy and satisfied with my do it yourself fish drying.
All thanks for the undying support and more power!
