Growing corn 🌽 and the unexpected infestation of pest

This is the time when corn are harvested, these corns that are planted earlier are waterd manually waiting for the rain to fall, most of the planted corn that are still growing as of now where planted right enough to meet up the rainy season.

I noticed the little corn we planted at our compound are growing so drastically and very healthy from the root, but then recently i observed that there has been some insect infestation on the leaves of the planted corn.

I know the cause of the holes on the leaves but how do we handle these issues?

The little idea we have is that, we started clearing out the unwanted plants on the soil, my landlady suggested we plant water melon since it's a crippling plant to surround the free space.

Continues progress on the growth of our corn field will be reported regularly.

I will be grateful if i could get more manual ways to treat these insect infestation.
