Today I went to my garden to check on the plants and to plant some new ones I had prepared in my nursery.
The pepper 🌶️🌶️🌶️ plant was what took my attention first. Just look at my pepper plant. It looks very good. The leaves are green and the plant is doing well. Last week when I checked it, it was full of flowers. But today, I saw plenty of green peppers on it. They are not yet ripe, but soon they will turn red.
I also checked out my maize. They are getting bigger and stronger. The plants are almost ready to be harvested but still need more time. Though the are looking big physical, the are not yet matured inside. With more time, they will fully mature.
I also came with the intention of planting new plants in the side of the garden which I’ve been preparing right from it nursery stage.
It is called the tamarind plant. This tamarind plant started as a seed a few weeks ago, and I’ve been keeping an eye on it as it grow to this stage.
As you can see, the plant is still young, and I’ve been keeping it in a polybag. Now, it’s ready to be planted into the ground.
To plant it, I looked for a place around with enough sunlight. The tamarind plant needs soil that drains water well because it doesn’t like too much water. It also needs space. If you are planting many, it is ideal you leave at least 10 feet between each one so they don’t disturb each other as they grow.
I dug a hole the same size as the polybag.
Then I gently removed the polybag from the plant and placed it inside the hole.
While digging, two types of soil came out, one was black and the other was red.
It is ideal I poured the black soil into the hole first before the red soil because the black has more nutrients. After that, I used the red soil to cover it.
I leveled the soil around the plant so that water won’t gather there when it rains.
Tamarind doesn’t need much water, so this helps it grow better.
Now the tamarind is standing well in the soil. Just like the morenga plant I planted a few weeks ago using the same method of putting it in a polybag, it has been growing taller since the day I planted it too. I have confidence that they’ll grow strong with time.

Hopefully with time the tamarind plant will grow into a big tree.
