The Most Ridiculous Excuses for Being Late

When it comes to humans running late for one thing or another, such as appointments and the likes, we've seen them give ridiculous excuses as the reasons why they're late, and surprisingly, some of these excuses are believed because you might end up feeling sorry for them based on what was used as an excuse, and sometimes it just sounds so ridiculous that you'll look at the person in question and be like, And you expect me to believe what you just told me? I've been told numerous excuses, and today I'll be telling you about the most ridiculous of them all.

People are prone to lying about different things, especially when it comes to why they're late for one thing or another. I remember several years ago when I was going for a job interview, someone came late for the interview section, and while he was being questioned about his reasons for coming late, He gave the excuse of how there was a huge traffic jam on the road from where he lives to where the company is located. What makes it sound ridiculous is the fact that he said he was coming from where I saw him came from that very day, and I didn't by chance meet any traffic congestion on the road. In fact, it was found out that he was lying because the interviewer, who arrived not long before the guy in question came, also passed through the same route and had no such experience, and that's how the guy ruined his chances of getting employed in that organization without going through any interview.

But then, when it comes to the most ridiculous excuses I've gotten personally from someone as their reason for coming late, it was from a close friend of mine during my undergraduate days at the university. Then I used to have a side hustle of working as an usher at parties, and those I worked with usually needed many ushers, so I was often tasked with helping them bring my friends to come do the job, and at the end of the day, we'd be paid, so on this particular day I invited this friend of mine to join us, since he had been pleading with me that he needed money, so I thought I should just call him along to help him out.

Although I had my reservation because on many occasions that I've invited him in the past, he ended up coming late and almost ruining my reputation with the people I work with, but after considering his plea, I called him again and made him aware that we're going to another state for this job, so he must come early so we can travel early with the bus provided, but on that Father's Day, he ended up coming late, and when he arrived, the excuse he gave just made me look at him like, do you think I'm a fool? There and then I made up my mind never to invite him again. Are you wondering what his excuse for coming late was? Well, it goes like this:

On arriving at where we were waiting for him, he opened his mouth and said he had already left his house at the agreed time and that he was about 5 minutes from getting to where we were when he realized he was wearing his clothes backwardly, so he had no choice but to turn back and go home to wear the clothes properly. Hearing that, I was literally in awe. I mean, how can you say you traveled 30 minutes plus from your house, and when you're 5 minutes away from getting to your destination, you turn back because you're wearing your clothes backwardly, and you expect me to believe that?

I mean, he's a guy, for crying out loud, meaning he can change on the road without anyhow feeling uncomfortable about it, or he can just manage to get to us and look for a place to change; that's what I believe a lady or even a reasonable person will do in such situations, and him giving such excuses and expecting me to believe it just made me lose it, but I didn't show my annoyance; I just kept quiet and knew within me that that's going to be the last time I'll be inviting him to come join me in that job.
