Jeden kann es treffen
Ob Wirbelsturm in den Tropen, Erdbeben im nahen Osten oder zuletzt auch die Hochwasser in Europa. Es gibt immer wieder Regionen auf dieser Erde, die von Naturkatastrophen oder anderen Desastern heimgesucht werden.
Meistens überfordern diese Situationen die Infrastruktur vor Ort. Das selbst in eigentlich gut ausgebauten Regionen der Welt.
Gut, dass es dann Organisationen gibt, die dann schnell Hilfe organisieren und koordinieren.
Daher geht meine Spende im September an die Diakonie Katastrophenhilfe.
Anyone can be affected
Whether hurricanes in the tropics, earthquakes in the Middle East or, most recently, the floods in Europe. There are always regions of the world that are hit by natural disasters or other catastrophes.
These situations usually overwhelm the local infrastructure. Even in regions of the world that are actually well developed.
It's good that there are organisations that can quickly organise and coordinate help.
That's why my donation in September will go to Diakonie Katastrophenhilfe.
Mehr als Soforthilfe
Die Diakonie Katastrophenhilfe hat einen mehrstufigen Ansatz.
Natürlich muss nach einer Katastrophe zuerst die Versorgung mit dem lebenswichtigsten wie Nahrung, Wasser und Medikamente sichergestellt werden.
Danach geht es aber direkt an den Wiederaufbau. Häuser müssen repariert, die Landwirtschaft mit neuem Saatgut versorgt werden. So wird die schnelle "Normalisierung" der Lage vor Ort unterstützt.
Als dritte Säule gilt es Vorsorge zu betreiben. Resistenteres Saatgut, Aufforstung und Verbesserung des Katastrophenmanagements vor Ort.

More than emergency aid
Diakonie Katastrophenhilfe has a multi-level approach.
Of course, the first step after a disaster is to ensure the supply of essentials such as food, water and medicine.
But then it's straight on to reconstruction. Houses must be repaired and new seeds must be provided for agriculture. This supports the rapid ‘normalisation’ of the situation on the ground.
The third pillar is to take precautions. More resistant seeds, reforestation and improvement of disaster management on site.
