Hello everyone!
Today the sun is shining, I had a great walk with my dog and I am really living in the vibe: life can be good. Nothing special, just the usualy day-to-day life which is going well. But that's it about my personal life. The real topic of today is: Moonkarts. Lately I am diving deeper in their whitepaper and decided to keep on writing about the game. It reminds me of Mario Kart.
A funny story about Mario Kart, when I used to be a student, already quite some years ago, we played Mario Kart every once in a while. I remember one night in particular where we went to a studentparty and partied all night long, I think until 4am. Afterwards we ended up at a lan-party, where still a couple of gamers were playing videogames. We didn't bring our own computer but there was a Nintendo Wii console present. We decided to try out Mario Kart. We had so much fun trying to not become the last in the races. While partying we drunk more than enough beers so our steering wasn't that well anymore. We always ended latest and the place before last but probably had way more fun than the times we raced for the first place, great memories, great times.
An Electrifying Blend of Speed, Strategy, and Reward
That's how Moon Karts is described in their whitepaper. It isn't just a race as you have played some racing games before, it's a combination of quick reflexes, utilizing power-ups in a strategic way and in-race economy management. A race takes about two minutes in which you have to show that you are the superior racer. It's not too long but remember that a lot can happen in these two minutes.

How well you are able to race, depends on a couple of elements of your racer and kart. These performance factors are the following:
As with everything in life, having a good balance between these stats is very important. Accelerating fast without a high speed is like spending a lot of energy on your bike. You'll fast achieve your maximumspeed, but compared to cars, you won't go fast. Being able to make sharp turns is important as well as you don't want to be colliding with the walls all the time. (That's definitely something I have experienced in several racing games.)

In Moon Karts there are two modes to play the game so far. There is a single player mode and a multiplayer mode. In my opinion the Multiplayer mode sounds like the most interesting one but let me explain more in detail what these modes are all about:
This is the perfect mode to try out the game and try out your different builds. You can utilize different drivers and equip your kart with different cards to boost certain stats. As already explained, in my opinion, it's important to balance everything, but before heading to multiplayer you can try out your builds here. You can choose out of different tracks, challenge yourself against the clock and thus try to beat your previous records. Before going for the real deal, be sure you have tried out different combinations!
The Multiplayermode is where the real fun is lying. You can race against other people, real humans, who have a similar ELO rating. For those of you unaware, ELO rating is a score behind the scenes to indicate how well you play. This way, people with similar ELO ratings will face eachother to make sure the game is fun for everyone. If you just start out, you don't want always to be matched against the best of the best, neither the other way around.
As said before, a race in multiplayer mode takes about two minutes on average and there will be several humans competing to win. If you end up in the first half after the race, than you are considered a winner. When there is an odd amount of racers, the amount of winners is rounded up. For example when there are five racers, the first three are considered as winners. In a race, a racer can decided to pick up COLONY and ORBITALS. COLONY is the core token of Arcade Colony whereas ORBITALS is specific tied to Moon Karts which has an influence on your performance on the leaderboard. So it's up to you if you want to grow your stack or climb on the leaderboard.
Besides picking up above mentioned tokens, you can decide to pick up some boosters as well. These boosters could help you very hard in your conquest of the first place so definitely try to grab them!
Last but not least, racing costs fuel. This is an important aspect as you need to be able to have fuel to race. BUT the good news is that fuel can be traded. So, head over to the official Discord, if you want to find trading partners for fuel (or racing cards).
