Hello everyone, Welcome to my Splinterlands Social Media Challenge post. In this post, I will be talking about the Backfire Ability and more, as well as an amazing battle. I hope it will be useful for you.
Enemies that miss Monsters with the Backfire Ability take 2 Melee damage, so you can make Monsters that miss their attacks suffer with Backfire Ability.
Remember, it is up to chance for Monsters to miss their targets, but it is up to us to increase the chance of them missing their targets. Increasing the speed of friendly monsters or reducing the speed of enemies is quite useful and increases the chance of enemies missing their targets.
With the Swiftness Ability, or/and with Summoners that give +1 speed, you can increase the Speed of all friendly Units by 1. When you choose the Summoner who gives +1 Speed to all friendly Monsters and include Swiftness Ability in your lineup, you will increase the speed of all friendly Monsters by +1 twice, and you can also include multiple Swiftness Ability in your lineup, and each one will give +1 speed to all friendly Monsters.
Slow Ability reduces the Speed of all enemy Units by 1. Reducing enemies' speed is also very useful, increasing the chance of missing their targets. Slow also stacks but cannot reduce speed to 0. Additionally, summoners like Quix the Devious and Lobb Lowland reduce the speed of all enemies by 1, so you may want to consider choosing these summoners to reduce enemies' speed.
Speed really works very useful in most battles, so I pay a lot of attention to the Monsters on my team having higher speed when determining my strategy. Remember, dodging attacks is always very useful in battles and will greatly benefit your team in battle.
Blind Ability increases the chance that all enemy melee and ranged attacks will miss their target. Therefore, it can be very useful to include Blind Ability along with Backfire Ability in your lineup.
Additionally, Water Summoner Aquatus grants Backfire Ability to all friendly Monsters. Aquatus is a Summoner who is incredibly useful when paired with Units likely to evade attacks.
Meanwhile, Units with the Shield Ability only take 1 damage from Backfire. Additionally, Units with the True Strike Ability cannot miss their targets, so backfire is useless against this ability as it only triggers on missed attacks.
Let's examine the Backfire Ability in a Battle.
According to the ruleset of the battle, all Monsters will have the Fury Ability, can only summon units with even mana costs, and the initial Health of all Monsters is equal to that of the Monster on either team with the highest base Health. Since the battle was only 25 mana, I didn't have many options in this battle, but I believed that Monsters with Double Strike and Sneak Ability would be very effective in this battle and I can say that I determined my strategy accordingly.
First of all, I would like to say that I chose Helios Matriarch as the Summoner because I wanted to use a Gladiator card in this battle and increase the speed of all friendly Monsters by 1. And I added Katrelba Gobson and Dhampir Infiltrator, who have the Sneak Ability and the Double Strike Ability, to my team. And I included the Protect Ability in my lineup to give +2 Armor to all Monsters on my team, and I believed that Armor would be very useful in this battle.
I knew that the opposing player would also prefer Sneak Monsters, so I added Naga Assassin with Backfire Ability to my team and put it in the last position. Naga Assassin has 6 speed and will get +1 speed from the Summoner and will have 7 speed in this battle, so I thought Naga Assassin could cause the Sneak Monsters on the opposing team to suffer.
Round 1
In the first round, although the opposing team's Dhampir Infiltrator did not miss Naga Assassin, the opposing team's Katrelba Gobson missed Naga Assassin with both attacks, so it took 2 damage twice. It was smart for the opposing player to include Lookout Ability in their strategy, and frankly if the battle cost was 26 I would have included Lookout Ability in my lineup. My team's Katrelba Gobson and Dhampir Infiltrator didn't miss, but they did less damage due to the Lookout Ability.
Round 2
In the second round, the opposing team's Dhampir Infiltrator missed both of its attacks, while Katrelba Gobson missed its second attack, causing it to be destroyed. Dhampir Infiltrator only had 3 health and will probably be destroyed next round.
Round 3
In the third round, the last 2 Monsters remaining on the opposing team were destroyed and my team managed to win the battle.
The battle lasted 3 rounds and at the end of the battle, all the monsters on the opposing team were destroyed while all the Monsters on my team managed to survive, which clearly shows that my strategy worked better in this battle. Backfire Ability was very useful in this battle, making the Sneak Monsters suffer and be destroyed earlier, which is exactly why I include Backfire Ability in my lineup in such battles. As I explained above, it can be much more useful when used with a good strategy, and I think this battle was a good example of this.
By the way, in such a battle, the Thorns Ability would also be very useful, and as we saw in the battle above, Backfire Ability can also be quite useful.
