Splinterlands is a fun player Vs player (PvP) game because every battle is different from every other because:

• there are many cards to choose from
• each card has stats and abilities that increase as the cards level up
• each battle can have a Ruleset or two that positively or negatively affect the stats and abilities of the cards deployed in the battle.

So winning a Splinterlands battle is never an easy or obvious victory because:

• a card that is generally very strong in battle could become very weak in the presence of a specific Ruleset or against a specific card
• a card that is generally very weak in battle could become very strong in the presence of a specific ruleset or when played together with another card that boosts its stats (Combo).

In today's post I want to focus on cards that have a specific ability, the Reflection Shield ability.

The Reflection Shield ability

A card that has the Reflection Shield ability becomes immune to all indirect or reflective attacks.
More precisely, a card that has the Reflection Shield ability will not take damage from indirect attacks from cards that have the Blast, Thorns, Return Fire and Magic Reflect abilities.
This means that even an opponent's Amplify ability will not produce negative effects on a card that has the Reflection Shield ability.

The battle utility of the Reflection Shield skill

Using a card with the Reflection Shields ability is especially useful in battles that have Rulset Explosive Weaponery.

If there is no second ruleset that changes the standard attack target of cards it is particularly useful to place the card with the Reflection Shield ability in the second position because:

• the card in first position is the card that generally suffers the most attacks
• all attacks toward the card in first position will only produce damage to the first card and not to the card in second position.
  It might be a winning strategic choice to choose to deploy in positions from third to sixth cards that have the Opportunity, Snake and Snipe abilities.

A possible strategic variation would be to put a card that also has the Taunt ability in first position.
That way if the opponent deploys cards with the Opportunity, Snake and Snipe abilities the cards in positions 3-4-5-6 will not be attacked until the card in first position is eliminated.

Additional abilities that could be very useful for the card in the first position are Void Armor, Retaliate, Thorns, Magic Reflects and Return Fire.

If there is a second ruleset that changes the attack target of cards such as Super Sneak the strategy changes and it is especially useful to place the card with the reflection Shield ability in penultimate position because except for the opponent card in first position all other opponent cards will attack the card in last position instead of first.

A possible alternative strategy could be to use two cards with the Reflection Shield ability, one in the second position and one in the penultimate position and use a card with the Taunt ability in the first position so as to direct the opponent's attacks and somehow control them even when the battle rule changes the standard rules.
If you use this strategy in positions 3 and 4 you should line up cards that have strong attacks and abilities that can increase attack points such as the Double Strike ability.

Three new Rulesets and the increased utility of the Reflection Shield skill

Splinterlands recently announced and introduced three new rulesets:

• Thorns
• Magic Reflect
• Return Fire

When the ruleset is Thorns all cards in battle acquire the Thorns ability

In this case it is inadvisable to use cards with melee attack.

When the Ruleset is Magic Reflect all cards in battle acquire the Magic Reflect ability.

In this case it is inadvisable to use cards with magic attack.

When the Ruleset is Return Fire all cards in battle acquire the Return Fire ability.

In this case it is inadvisable to use cards with attack from a distance.

Not all players are perfect players, myself included, which is why the introduction of these new three rulesets has increased the usefulness in battle of two types of cards in particular:

• the cards that have the Reflection Shield ability.
• the cards that have the Amplify ability.

For the reasons and considerations above in my opinion it is important to have at least one card with the Reflection Shield ability in your deck that will be especially useful when the rule of battle is Explosive Weaponery.
I will now show you how many there are and what cards have the Reflection Shield ability.

The cards that have the Reflection Shield ability.

The cards that have the Reflection Shield ability are a total of 8 but only some acquire the Reflection Shield ability from level 1.

In the following two images you can see all the cards that have the Reflection Shield ability and the level from which they acquire this ability.

So there are 2 legendary cards, 2 epic cards, 3 rare cards and only one common card with the Reflection Shield ability.

In the following two images you can see the cost for each card and the quantity of DEC tokens needed to purchase based on the market value of DEC tokens as of today November 3, 2021 (1 DEC = $0.0008081).

The cheapest card that has the Reflection Shield ability is the Tide Biter card of level 3 which has a total cost of $1,0570 = 1308 DEC but since it is a Water element card it can only be used in battles that allow summoners of the Water, Dragon and Neutral elements to be used and thus can be used less frequently than other cards.

The card that has the possibility of being used more frequently is the legendary card Venator Kinjo which being neutral can be used with all summoners.
By the way, Venator Kinjo also has the Camouflage ability that allows him to avoid attacks until he gets to the first position and thus has a second ability that is very useful in particular circumstances such as in the case where the battle rules are two and they are Explosive Weaponery and Super Sneak.

Also very interesting is the card Corsair Bosun which has a slightly higher cost than Tide Biter but has a good number of life points (6) and a good number of armor points (5) making it a good choice for the second position when the battle rule is Explosive Weaponery or Thorns and when there is a lot of mana available.

I also really like the Water Caller card of level 5 that has the Stun ability along with the Reflection Shield ability but the price to sustain is higher: $21.54.

The card with the Reflection Shield ability that I like best is Oshuur Constantia but in this case the price is the highest 89.85$ for level 2.

Not all the cards I have shown above can be used in all leagues in Splinterlands, and in the image below you can see each card starting with the league in which it can be used.

My purchasing choices

Those who read my blog regularly know that I like to upgrade my card collection but starting in early September I chose not to buy cards and rather preferred to sell them with the goal of increasing the amount of DEC tokens in my possession.
When the value of DEC tokens is low I prefer to sell cards that I do not use in battle and when the value of DEC tokens is high I can use the DEC tokens obtained from selling cards to buy more cards if, of course, the price of cards has not increased in the meantime...

The value of DEC tokens is increasing and today 1000 DEC = $0.80.

However, it is not yet the value I have decided as my ideal buy line and I want to wait for the DEC token to reach a value of at least $0.90 so that I can buy more cards and enhance my card collection in a major way.

Therefore, for the time being, I continue to buy only cheap but useful cards in battle and I have also started writing a series of posts on this type of cards.

I chose to buy level 2 Venator Kinjo instead of level 1 because at level 2 it acquires a third ability (Immunity) and because the total cost is still low ($7.09).
I chose to buy Tide Biter of level 6 because it is a cheap card and taking it to the maximum level cost me less than $5.

I chose to use the website of https://monstermarket.io/ for the purchase and spent a total of $12.744 = 15823.193 DEC but I will also receive a cashback of 421.87 DEC.

I now have three cards that will be particularly useful in battles with Rulesets: Explosive Weaponery and Thorns.

Before my last purchases, I had no cards with the Reflection Shield ability.
In this post I focused on theory and showed the usefulness and placement of cards with the Reflection Shield ability in the presence of some rulesets.
In my next post I will show the practical part and after I have done an adequate number of battles I will show and analyze some battles in which I have used cards with the Reflection Shield ability.

Focus sull'abilità Reflection Shield: carte, strategie, le mie scelte d'acquisto

Splinterlands è un gioco player Vs player (PvP) divertente perchè ogni battaglia è diversa da ogni altra perchè:

• ci sono tante carte tra cui scegliere
• ogni carta ha statistiche e abilità che aumentano con l'aumentare del livello
• ogni battaglia può avere una Ruleset o due Rulesets che influenzano in modo positivo o negativo le statistiche e le abilità delle carte schierate in battaglia.

Quindi vincere una battaglia in una determinata lega di gioco non è mai scontato perchè:

• una carta generalmente molto forte in battaglia potrebbe diventare molto debole in presenza di una determinata Ruleset o contro una specifica carta
• una carta generalmente molto debole in battaglia potrebbe diventare molto forte in presenza di una determinata ruleset o se giocata insieme ad un'altra carta che amplifica le sue statistiche (Combo).

Nel post di oggi voglio focalizzarmi sulle carte che hanno una precisa abilità, l'abilità Reflection Shield.

L'Abilità Reflection Shield

Una carta che ha l'abilità Reflection Shield diventa immune da tutti gli attacchi indiretti o riflettenti.
Più precisamente una carta che ha l'abilità Reflection Shield non subirà danni da attacchi indiretti da carte che hanno le abilità Blast, Thorns, Return Fire e Magic Reflect.
Questo vuol dire che anche l'abilità Amplify di una carta avversaria non ha produrrà effetti negativi su una carta che ha l'abilità Reflection Shield.

L'utilità in battaglia dell'abilità Reflection Shield

Utilizzare una carta con l'abilità Reflection Shields è particolarmente utile in battaglie che hanno la Rulset Explosive Weaponry.

Se non c'è una seconda ruleset che modifica l'obiettivo di attacco delle carte è particolarmente utile posizionare la carta con l'abilità Reflection Shield in seconda posizione perchè:

• la carta in prima posizione è la carta che generalmente subisce il maggior numero di attacchi
• tutti gli attacchi verso la carta in prima posizione produrranno danni solo alla prima carta e non alla carta in seconda posizione.
  Potrebbe essere una scelta strategica vincente scegliere di schierare nelle posizioni dalla terza alla sesta carte che hanno le abilità Opportunity, Snake e Snipe.

Una possibile variante strategica potrebbe essere quella di mettere in prima posizione una carta che ha anche l'abilità Taunt.
In questo modo se l'avversario schiererà carte con le abilità Opportunity, Snake e Snipe le carte nelle posizioni 3-4-5-6 non saranno attaccate fino a quando la carta in prima posizione non verrà eliminata.

Aggiuntive abilità che potrebbero essere molto utili per la carta in prima posizione sono Void Armor, Retaliate, Thorns, Magic Reflects e Return Fire.

Se c'è una seconda ruleset che modifica l'obiettivo di attacco delle carte come ad esempio Super Sneak la strategia cambia ed è particolarmente utile posizionare la carta con l'abilità reflection Shield in penultima posizione perchè tranne la carta avversaria in prima posizione tutte le altre carte avversarie attaccheranno la carta in ultima posizione invece che la prima.

Una possibile strategia alternativa potrebbe essere quella di utilizzare due carte con l'abilità Reflection Shield, una in seconda posizione e una nella penultima posizione e utilizzare una carta con l'abilità Taunt in prima posizione in modo da indirizzare gli attacchi avversari e in qualche modo controllarli anche quando la regola di battaglia modifica le regole standard.
Se si utilizza questa strategia nelle posizioni 3 e 4 si dovrebbero schierare carte che hanno attacchi forti e abilità in grado di aumentare i punti di attacco come ad esempio l'abilità Double Strike.

Tre nuove Rulesets e l'incremento di utilità del'abilità Reflection Shield

Splinterlands di recente ha annunciato e introdotto tre nuove rulesets:

• Thorns
• Magic Reflect
• Return Fire

Quando la Ruleset è Thorns tutte le carte in battaglia acquisiscono l'abilità Thorns

In questo caso è sconsigliabile usare carte con attacco da mischia.

Quando la Ruleset è Magic Reflect tutte le carte in battaglia acquisiscono l'abilità Magic Reflect

In questo caso è sconsigliabile usare carte con attacco magico.

Quando la Ruleset è Return Fire tutte le carte in battaglia acquisiscono l'abilità Return Fire

In questo caso è sconsigliabile usare carte con attacco dalla distanza.

Non tutti i giocatori sono perfetti giocatori, me compreso, e per questo motivo l'introduzione di queste nuove tre ruleset ha aumentato l'utilità in battaglia di due tipologie di carte in particolare:

• le carte che hanno l'abilità Reflection Shield
• le carte che hanno l'abilità Amplify

Per i motivi e le considerazioni che ho esposto sopra secondo me è importante avere almeno una carta con l'abilità Reflection Shield nel proprio deck che sarà particolarmente utile quando la regola di battaglia è Explosive Weaponery.
Ti mostro adesso quante sono e quali sono le carte che hanno l'abilità Reflection Shield.

Le carte che hanno l'abilità Reflection Shield

Le carte che hanno l'abilità Reflection Shield sono in totale 8 ma solo alcune acquisiscono l'abilità Reflection Shield a partire dal livello 1.

Nelle due immagini seguenti puoi vedere tutte le carte che hanno l'abilità Reflection Shield e il livello a partire dal quale acquisiscono questa abilità.

Ci sono quindi 2 carte leggendarie, 2 carte epiche, 3 carte rare e solo una carta comune con l'abilità Reflection Shield.

Nelle due immagini seguenti puoi vedere il costo per ogni carta e il quantitativo di token DEC necessario per l'acquisto in base al valore di mercato dei token DEC di oggi 3 novembre 2021 (1 DEC = 0.0008081$).

La carta più economica che ha l'abilità Reflection Shield è la carta Tide Biter di livello 3 che ha un costo totale di 1.0570$ = 1308 DEC ma essendo una carta dell'elemento Water potrà essere utilizzata solo in battaglie che permettono di utilizzare gli evocatori degli elementi Water, Dragone e Neutrale e quindi potrà essere utilizzata con minor frequenza rispetto ad altre carte.

La carta che ha la possibilità di essere utilizzata con una frequenza maggiore è la carta leggendaria Venator Kinjo che essendo neutrale può essere utilizzata con tutti gli evocatori.
Tra l'altro Venator Kinjo ha anche l'abilità Camouflage che gli consente di evitare gli attacchi fino a quando non arriva in prima posizione ed ha quindi una seconda abilità molto utile in particolari circostanze come nel caso in cui le regole di battaglia sono due e sono Explosive Weaponery e Super Sneak.

Molto interessante è anche la carta Corsair Bosun che ha un costo leggermente superiore a Tide Biter ma ha un buon numero di punti vita (6) e un buon numero di punti armatura (5) che la rendono una valida scelta per la seconda posizione quando la regola di battaglia è Explosive Weaponery o Thorns e quando i mana disponibili sono molti.

Mi piace molto anche la carta Water Caller di livello 5 che ha l'abilità Stun insieme all'abilità Reflection Shield ma il prezzo da sostenere è più alto: 21.54$.

La carta con l'abilità Reflection Shield che mi piace di più è Oshuur Costantia ma in questo caso il prezzo è il più alto 89.85$ per il livello 2.

Non tutte le carte che ho mostrato sopra possono essere utilizzate in tutte le leghe di Splinterlands e nell'immagine seguente puoi vedere ogni carta a partire dalla lega nella quale può essere utilizzata.

Le mie scelte di acquisto

Chi legge il mio blog regolarmente sa che mi piace potenziare la mia collezione di carte ma a partire dagli inizi di settembre ho scelto di non acquistare carte e ho piuttosto preferito venderle con l'obiettivo di aumentare il quantitativo di token DEC in mio possesso.
Quando il valore dei token DEC è basso preferisco vendere le carte che non uso in battaglia e quando il valore dei token DEC è alto posso utilizzare i token DEC ottenuti dalla vendita delle carte per acquistare un numero di carte maggiore se, ovviamente, nel frattempo il prezzo delle carte non è aumentato...

Il valore dei token DEC è in aumento e oggi 1000 DEC = 0.80$.

Non è però ancora il valore che ho deciso come la mia buy line ideale e voglio aspettare che il token DEC raggiunga un valore di almeno 0.90$ per poter acquistare altre carte e potenziare in modo importante la mia collezione di carte.

Per questo motivo per il momento continuo ad acquistare solo carte economiche ma utili in battaglia e ho anche iniziato a scrivere una serie di post su questa tipologia di carte.

Oggi ho quindi deciso di aggiungere alla mia collezione le seguenti carte:

• Venator Kinjo di livello 2
• Tide Biter di livello 6
• Corsair Bosun di livello 1

Ho scelto di acquistare Venator Kinjo di livello 2 invece del livello 1 perchè al livello 2 acquisisce una terza abilità (Camouflage) e perchè il costo totale è comunque basso (7.09$).
Ho scelto di acquistare Tide Biter di livello 6 perchè è una carta economica e portarla al massimo livello mi è costato meno di 5$.

Per l'acquisto ho scelto di utilizzare il sito di https://monstermarket.io/ e ho speso in totale 12.744$ = 15823.193 DEC ma riceverò anche un cashback di 421.87 DEC.

Adesso ho tre carte che mi saranno particolarmente utili nelle battaglie con le Rulesets: Explosive Weaponery e Thorns.

In questo post mi sono focalizzato sulla teoria e ho mostrato l'utilità e il posizionamento delle carte con l'abilità Reflection Shield in presenza di alcune rulesets.
