Are you a slave to your daily grind?

1000625328.jpg

A lot of people dislike their jobs in real life, which is why you have terms like "TGIF" Thank God it is Friday, and before you say it is a regular thing, you must understand that Friday is the day before Saturday, and most people can not wait for the weekends in whatever jobs they are doing; this is not simply because they are exhausted; it is simply because 99% of jobs do not bring fulfillment, they bring stress and pressure.

It is why so many people work in toxic and unfulfilling environments, where they simply have to show up every day and feel happy only when they are not working.

Solve a problem, get paid

Originally, jobs should be enjoyable; problem solving is something that every job description entails.

Humans enjoy solving problems because it brings them fulfillment and excitement, but the problems that many people must solve at work often come with deadlines and expectations that can be extremely difficult.

I have worked in a lot of uncomfortable places, with nagging superiors or bosses who threaten you with the sack if you do not meet their expectations.

There are jobs where the employers are condescending; they know you can not exactly leave because you have bills to pay, and even if you do leave, the unemployment rate is high, so they can easily replace you.

I have worked in places where you literally have no choice; your livelihood is dependent on one person, and they can wake up and make you useless if they want to. 90% of jobs worldwide are toxic, and some people can not wait until Saturday to finally have some inner peace.

Toxic environment job experience

I am used to toxic work environments; it reminded me of old-time slavery, when a group of 50 muscular slaves were led around in chains by two white people holding guns. While 50 can easily overpower two people, the fear of the gun, as well as the uncertainty of what happens next if they manage to overcome the first obstacle, made it difficult to break free.

Many modern jobs are similar to slavery in that there are people in charge who hold you hostage and make your life miserable. However, this prompts you to wonder, "Is it really worth it?"

I recently saw a movie in which a guy believed he had won the lottery and went to confront his boss. He cursed his boss for all the times he made him unhappy, and after that, he gladly informed his boss that he was quitting, only to walk out and realize that he had not won the lottery after all.

He was absolutely stunned.

What happened?

Because he literally needed the job to survive, he was unable to express himself or complain about the mistreatment he was subjected to.

Many people are trapped in the prison of financial debt, and it eats away at them, making it difficult for them to express their opinions for fear of losing the ability to pay their bills. This is why I agree that people are who they truly are when they have the financial means to never be concerned about the consequences of what they say or do.

People are humbled in life because they are afraid to express themselves freely. Some of the people around you are most likely there because they do not have the freedom to be a fake friend without facing consequences.

This is why a former poor friend becomes someone you no longer recognize when they are free to express themselves without fear of repercussions. We are more concerned about financial consequences than with any other type of consequences.

Can it happen?

When people are no longer slaves to their needs, they gain the true power of reflection and expression. The jobs we have now are those that keep people enslaved.

Perhaps in the future, things will be different, or maybe not. However, I believe that jobs will continue to limit people's choices, allowing them to remain enslaved without fear of revolution or rebuttal.

That's why inventors can often do so well. They solve a problem and the more people the problem affects, the more sales you can amass. Ideally working for yourself is what you want in life, but for most it's a dream they can't seem to make come true.

Many people get financially trapped in toxic work place and have little recourse until the find a new job. Which many hard to do. That lottery "supposed" winner telling off his boss is hilarious. I can't remember what movie it came from though.

Very true though, hopefully the future is brighter. But with the greed of the human race I doubt it will any time soon...

I think a lot of jobs are just meant to sustain people instead of making them financially free. I heard that in the 80s people managed to build their own homes and bought their own cars with their 9 to 5, I doubt it's possible these days except you have a business of your own, however it's tough to build a business though.

I didn't find a new job when I was trapped in mine, I worked there for seven years and it was a "hand-to-mouth" experience as I continue to live in lack and want.

Greed is inevitable in life, and the pain of it.

Building a business is rough, I've been there a few times. Every time it's really stressful getting things running and often you don't see a profit for one or two years depending on what business your in. A lot of jobs are paying the absolute minimum and essentially traps employees in a struggle to survive.

Back in the 1980's things were a lot better, you could get a nice job and make decent money to buy a home and save for retirement. Today that's a hard thing to do unless you are in a high paying job sector.

Hmmmm, this is a raw truth..like I don't even know which point to comment on...but then

People are humbled in life because they are afraid to express themselves freely.

This is the case for many people...managing toxicity just to make ends meet. Living fake life to keep a job...swallow stress and all manner of pressure ...it is what it

I once had that type of job but I didn't stay too long until I advised myself and looked for another regardless of the high pay

What is high pay when your emotional , mental and overall health is at risk all because of one job

Lol I think a lot of people manage to withstand their toxic working environment. 90% of jobs in Nigeria is toxic, and some people will prefer to continue getting paid, whether the environment is toxic or not, they wouldn't mind, because unfortunately they have to pay a lot of bills and sometimes we cannot thrive without money. If people had choices, most jobs in Nigeria will not have workers

All what you said , is nothing but the truth and you really end it when. The work most of people are doing now enslaved them and make them not to have choice. Sometimes things happen where they work, which they suppose to act on, but they wouldn't there talk because they know the consequences won't be easy.

That's why, when you see people talking, expressing there minds and never mind what will happen next, check does kind of people, they don't need the work they are doing again and that makes them to talk their mind freely without being scared

Almost everyone in Nigeria doing a 9 to 5 actually needs the work they're doing, except for people who owns their businesses and work for themselves.

Yeah that's true

working is the modern form of slavery... they say you are free but without working where are you going? starving under a bridge... and you gotta eat every crap deosnt matter the taste because you need the money

the environment in my office is totally not toxic but owners are toxic and jesus 8 hours a day takes totally off the day, you end up with no time to live...

I think most jobs actually don't give people enough freedoms anymore and it's saddening, although some jobs aren't as bad, just like yours and honestly it's a gift to always have great jobs as that. I had terrible jobs lol.

Yeah mine is good for the free time I have if I'm fast and the home work, that's why I'm not dropping it... Other places would be different

Uhmmm this is deep and is the real fact,I have to leave my 9 to 6 job just because of this....the salary is a peanut and the stress that comes with it is also high, that every week I fall sick,God should just make it easier for us being self dependent is the best ever

0.00035707 BEE

I had one like that, I worked there for 7 years and became very sick during the last few weeks. I retired from the job, I was sick for over one month though and I never went back to the job.

It's a grind, but you need money to survive in our daily lives. As much as I would like to quit the grind, I can't justify it with the bills going out every month.

0.00035671 BEE

Bills are always there to be paid, yeah, so people are going to be always have to cope with their terrible toxic work environment..

0.00000000 BEE

This experiences is not far-fetched, it's a reality i have lived it, bosses who will boss you to the wall till all the air in your lungs runs out, still they know you won't quit cause you don't have an option then they derive pride and ego in the fact that even of you'd quit there are 1000 and 1 persons standing by for your position and when you think of the outside world you know it's not funny ...so I either way you are boxed....

Examples are teaching jobs in Nigeria. My boss back then had a lot of people willing to work, so anyone can actually replace you, and we usually lived in the fear of being replaced, and because of that we were treated poorly and not paid well

That's why I'm nurturing my own personal values ... cause I hate been at the mercy of any man
