Showing how the Poison Ability can make all the difference in Battle

Poison is one of my favorite abilities in Splinterlands. It may seem like a weak ability, but I've had many battles where it made all the difference and I was only able to emerge victorious because of it.

For those who don't know the Poison ability, I'll give a brief explanation about it.

The Poison ability is represented by the image above. The monster that has the Poison ability will have a 50% chance of poisoning the monster it attacks. Poisoned monsters take 2 damage at the beginning of each round until they are defeated.

To demonstrate the potential of the Poison ability, I'll use the battle below as an example.

BATTLE

This battle took place in the Champion 3 league and it has 3 rules: Aim True, Heavy Metal and Super Sneak.

  • In the Aim True rule, all monsters have a 100% chance of hitting the attack, when this rule is in battle, any ability that increases the chances of dodging attacks will be useless.

  • In the Heavy Metal rule, players will only be able to select monsters that have at least 1 armor.

  • In the Super Sneak rule, all monsters receive the ability Sneak, monsters with the ability will target the enemy monster that is positioned in the last position.

These are rules that favor monsters with melee attacks, so in the battle I selected most of my monsters with melee attacks.

In this battle, both players need to set up their strategy with only 17 mana. Since the amount of mana is low, I was able to select only 5 cards: Lux Vega, Noa The Just, Uraeus, Hardy Stonefish and Cruel Sethropod.

Lux Vega was the summoner I selected for the battle, she will increase the speed, health and armor of all my monsters by +1.

Noa The Just was the monster I selected in the first position, she has no attack but will make my opponent's monsters more vulnerable since she will reduce the armor of all his monsters by -2.

Uraeus is my monster with the ability Poison and also the reason I was able to emerge victorious in this battle.

Hardy Stonefish is a monster with low mana cost and since there is the Super Sneak rule, he will be a great choice since he has 2 melee attack.

Cruelsethropod is my main defense in the backline, its mana cost is also low and it has a lot of armor that will be very useful to defend against my opponent's monsters since they will target it because of the ability Sneak.

The battle lasted 7 rounds and the decisive moment was when the monsters Hardy Stonefish and Gargoya Lion were facing each other, unfortunately Hardy Stonefish did not have enough strength to defeat Gargoya Lion and he was only 1 attack away from being defeated, but my Uraeus managed to poison Gargoya Devil before he was defeated and because of that I was able to emerge victorious since before Gargoya Devil was able to deliver the final attack, he was defeated by the poison.

In addition to Gargoya Devil, other monsters of my opponent also suffered from the poison and I was only able to emerge victorious in this battle because of him since I was only 1 step away from defeat.

Without a doubt, Uraeus is a fantastic card, it is useful in teams of different elements. The ability you mention allows it to become lethal, as it causes more wear and tear to the opponent. Cheers.
