The new rewards cards we have in splinterlands are more interesting with new abilities and we always have a tendency to compare those with earlier edition cards.
For example, i am writing this blog about a new rewards card from water splinter, giant alpine skink which is similar to chaos legion edition monster of diemonshark, we can say almost similar, because diemonshark has that trample ability, but this new card isn't, but this new monster is far better in terms of speed and comes with even better options like shield which will protect it better from melee and ranged attack monsters as it takes lesser attack from those monsters.
So, here i share a battle with this monster and few other monsters from different editions including gladius monsters from brawl battles as well.
Giant alpine skink is really like a giant dinosaur as we can see from above screenshot, it is a monster from water splinter and as i mentioned above, it is on par with diemonshark and although i haven't used this monster much, i tried explore it today for writing this blog and i could win a battle using this monster for i think the first time.
The statistics for this monster looks so nice as we can check from above screenshot here, this level 10 monsters has interesting stats with the melee attack as a maximum of of 4 and speed can also increase to 5 if we upgrade it to level 6 and above and it do have armors and the health is good too with a level 10 monster having 9 health.
As for as the abilities this monster has, it has the shield ability from level 1, it gets phase ability from level 5 and gets stun ability when it is maxed out.
I have a level 4 monster and hoping to upgrade it to level 5 to get phase ability which makes it harder for monsters to hit this monster as shield and phase will mostly make it impossible for melee and ranged attack monsters to hit this.
This battle had reflection shield ability which enables all monsters not getting hit back when any monster hits monsters with magic reflect, thorn ability one or return fire abilities, but no reflection hit including even retaliate i think.
Giant alpine skink is a better alternative to diemonshark which we have been using since chaos legion edition time and although this monster lacks trample ability, it makes up with shield ability and phase will make it even stronger when we upgrade it to level 5.
This monster by default has the reflection shield and used this for it's 3 mana cost 2 melee attack and the limited mana cost of 32 for this battle means, the mana cost needs to be used wisely to select 6 monsters.
Deeplurker is i think one of the most used from water splinter as it is a opportunity ability monster and will also pour poison if upgraded to level 5 and provides 4 opportunity melee attack for the level 4 one i have.
Since my chaos legion edition summoner is limited with level 4 one, i use this gladius cards enabled summoner and that means, i had this opportunity to use this gladius monster of isgald vorst which is another opportunity ability melee attack monster and it is also a blood lust ability monster to gain additional attack, speed and health when it removes a monster it attacks.
Merdaali guardian is the tank healer i use in this battle, it is a no attack monster, but heals the front monster and the level 2 monster i have, doesn't provide repair option, but it has one.
Last monster i used is this new rewards card monster of halfling refugee and all i have is a level 1 monster which is with 1 melee attack and 6 health.
That is the lineup i used and my opponent played with death splinter, but i think the giant alpine skink played better here and i was able to win this battle.
I shared the battle link above for anyone to check about this battle and it was a good win.
