Can I Make It Work?
Publishing monthly reports on the progress of my Splinterlands account has proven to be a simple but truly useful way to keep track of the results produced by my investment strategy in this game.
By comparing the results of each month with those of the previous one, I can get a clear and precise view of what is working and what isn’t, as well as what worked in the past but has stopped working now.
Splinterlands indeed offers many possibilities: there are cards, tokens, liquidity pools, and different ways to use them to generate income or get rewards.
For more than a year, my focus has been entirely on finding a way to generate income that was stable, predictable, and significant enough to allow me to watch it grow over time.
I also tried to identify assets whose value I believed could increase or, at least, remain stable, so that my investment in the game would grow larger and larger.
On the other hand, I abandoned the gaming aspect, not only because at the time I had lost the desire to play — years of frustration caused by the presence of bots surely played a very significant role in this — but also because playing was taking up too much of my time.
Some of these choices turned out to be right:
- the rental income from my assets was much higher than I could have expected and gave me great hopes for the future for many months;
- quitting playing did prevent me from receiving game rewards, but it gave me back about forty free minutes a day, which I was able to use to focus on other things.
Other choices, however, did not produce the results I expected:
- the cards I purchased and the tokens I kept in my wallet lost value: not every single month, but looking at the big picture, their overall value has certainly not increased;
- the DEC I converted into HIVE did not benefit from any increase in HIVE’s price, since the latter seems to be going from bad to worse...
This situation is confirmed by these reports I’ve been publishing, as can also be easily verified from the performance of my cards and tokens this month.
Cards
Using Peakmonsters, the value of my cards is currently about 98 dollars.
Last month the value of my collection was about 129 dollars.
A decrease of about 31 dollars, adding to that of last month... and that of the month before.
Since the beginning of July, the value of my collection has been cut in half: -50% in three months, despite the very recent addition of a new Legendary Archon to my collection.
Tokens
On the tokens side, the situation is less severe, but still somewhat concerning.
Currently, the value of my tokens amounts to 78.33 dollars.
Last month their value was 91.63 dollars.
About 13 dollars less, partly due to the decline in SPS value, and partly due to the use of several thousand DEC to purchase the Archon I mentioned above.
I also still have my reserve of 89 HIVE (converted from 20,500 DEC), which continues to lose value:
And my small share in the DEC-GRAIN pool (obtained by investing 2,000 DEC):
Here I should have reached break-even, so I’m starting to earn something, even if it’s tiny and not very significant amounts.
Waiting no longer seems enough
This is what I find myself thinking right now.
As time goes by, the situation only seems to get worse, and I fear the moment when all this will affect my rental income.
That’s the core of my strategy and, if it were to fail, I would find myself needing to absolutely do something, unless I want to watch the value of what I own on Splinterlands continue to fall until it’s no longer possible for me to recover the ground I’ve lost.

Posso Farlo Funzionare?
Pubblicare report mensili sull'andamento del mio account su Splinterlands si è rivelato un modo semplice ma davvero utile per tenere traccia dei risultati prodotti dalla mia strategia d'investimento in questo gioco.
Confrontando i risultati di ogni mese con quelli del precedente riesco ad avere una visione chiara e precisa di cosa sta funzionando e cosa, nonchè di cosa ha funzionato in passato ma ha smesso di farlo nel presente.
Splinterlands offre intatti tante possibilità: ci sono carte, tokens, liquidity pools e modi diversi di utilizzarli, così da produrre una rendita o ottenere ricompense.
Da più di un anno la mia attenzione è stata interamente rivolta al modo di produrre una rendita che fosse stabile, prevedibile e abbastanza rilevante da consentirmi nel tempo di poterla veder crescere.
Ho anche cercato di individuare assets il cui valore ritenevo potesse aumentare o, almeno, restare stabile, così da poter vedere il mio investimento nel gioco diventare sempre più grande.
Ho invece lasciato perdere l'aspetto videoludico, non solo perchè all'epoca avevo perso la voglia di giocare - anni di frustrazione dovuti alla presenza di bots avevano sicuramente avuto un ruolo molto rilevante in ciò - ma anche perchè giocare mi portava via troppo tempo.
Alcune di queste scelte si sono rivelate azzeccate:
- la rendita da noleggio dei miei assets è stata molto più alta di quanto potessi aspettarmi e mi ha dato per tanti mesi ottime speranze per il futuro;
- smettere di giocare mi ha sì impedito di ricevere ricompense di gioco, ma mi ha restituito una quarantina di minuti liberi al giorno, che ho potuto impiegare per concentrarmi su altre cose.
Altre scelte, invece, non hanno prodotto i frutti che mi aspettavo:
- le carte che ho acquistato ed i token che ho mantenuto in portafoglio hanno perso valore: non sempre, ma se guardo alla visione d'insieme, di certo il loro valore complessivo non è aumentato;
- il DEC che ho convertito in HIVE non ha beneficiato di alcun aumento nel prezzo di HIVE, dato che quest'ultimo sembra andare di male in peggio...
La conferma di questa situazione arriva da questi report che sto pubblicando, come è facilmente verificabile anche dall'andamento delle mie carte e token in questo mese.
Carte
Utilizzando Peakmonsters il valore delle mie carte risulta attualmente pari a circa 98 dollari.
Il mese scorso il valore della mia collezione era invece pari a circa 129 dollari.
Un decremento di circa 31 dollari, che si aggiunge a quello del mese scorso... ed a quello del mese prima.
Da inizio luglio il valore della mi collezione si è dimezzato: un -50% in tre mesi, e questo nonostante la recentissima aggiunta di un nuovo Arconte leggendario alla mia collezione.
Tokens
Lato tokens la situazione è meno grave, ma desta comunque una certa preoccupazione.
Attualmente il valore dei miei tokens ammonta infatti a 78.33 dollari.
Il mese scorso il loro valore era invece pari a 91.63 dollari.
Circa 13 dollari in meno, in parte dovuti al calo di valore di SPS, in parte all'utilizzo di alcune migliaia di DEC per acquistare l'Arconte di cui parlavo sopra.
Ho poi sempre la mia riserva di 89 HIVE (convertiti da 20.500 DEC), che però continua a sua volta a perdere valore:

Qui dovrei aver raggiunto il punto di pareggio, per cui sto iniziando a guadagnare qualcosa, anche se si tratta di importi minuscoli e poco rilevanti.
Aspettare non sembra più sufficiente
E' questo ciò che mi ritrovo a pensare in questo momento.
Con il passare del tempo la situazione sembra andare solo peggio e temo l'arrivo del momento in cui tutto ciò si rifletterà sulla mia rendita da noleggio.
Quello è il fulcro della mia strategia e, se dovesse venire meno, mi troverei di fronte alla necessità di dover assolutamente fare qualcosa, a meno di non voler vedere il valore di ciò che possiedo su Splinterlands continuare a calare fino a che non sarà più possibile per me recuperare il terreno perso.
