Lifescape Tribe Night Photography Contest Round 7: Dawn Of Hope: New Beginnings For Tomorrow.

There was devastating news in our place. There was a flood and then a landslide that hit a nearby community. This happened last November 5, 2022 in other Cotabato Provinces. Everything was wiped out. Their homes, farmland, belongings and most especially lives. People are still grieving over the unexpected. Searching for their loved ones and the area was far from recovery.

It's my first time to see the effect of a landslide. It's like the place was swallowed and the destruction was overwhelming. I told my husband what happened and he donated money to the affected family. Instead of donating it to the NGO or other public agencies. I personally message my High School Batchmate. She was actively doing relief operations. I told her I will buy bottled water and pastil. The pastil was made by my cousin, to support her small business. My high school classmate Shiela came to my home to pick me up for the donation. Together and her cousin, we went to Barangay Kusiong, Maguindanao.

We started giving donations and the atmosphere was heavy. The place we went to their homes were gone. But still they are happy for the donations they received.

As the sun began to set, I took a chance to capture the sky. It was painted in deep purples and soft blue. With the palm trees still standing after the landslide. It silhouetted against the fading light. It was beautiful and stunning. For me, the purple color means pain and grief of the people. But still the blue color means there's always hope in life. For the pain they suffered there's peace and healing for everything.

Healing starts from our hearts and no need to rush. Just trust the process and everything will be ok.
