Mirador del Coll de Ordino y un poco más // Coll de Ordino Viewpoint and a bit more

Hola querido hiver.

El Coll de Ordino es un paso entre montañas situado en el corazón del Principado de Andorra. Comunica las parroquias de Canillo y Encamp y su punto más alto está a casi 2000 metros de altura. Quizás te suene el nombre porque ha sido parte del recorrido del Tour de Francia en unas cuantas ocasiones. De hecho, es raro que no te encuentres con algún ciclista por la carretera si vas por allí.

Ascendiendo desde el pueblo de Ordino encontramos a medio camino del paso un bonito mirador. Es un punto de parada obligatoria para admirar la grandiosidad del Valle de Ordino y las montañas que lo circundan.

El mirador está en una curva cerrada, por lo que su espacio es reducido. Solo pueden parar dos o tres coches al mismo tiempo. Esto es una ventaja a la hora de hacer las fotos, pues es imposible que se masifique.

Ver el pueblo tan pequeño ahí al fondo del valle te pone en tu sitio. Te das cuenta de lo maravillosa que es la naturaleza, de lo poco que eres respecto a su inmensidad. Esas arrugas gigantes, el río serpenteante por el fondo, el cielo, el manto verde que envuelve la tierra.

A la derecha del mirador los ojos se van hacia el pico más alto. Es el Casamanyà, de 2740 metros de altura. Allá arriba ya no hay árboles que resistan, solo hierba que se torna en blanca nieve durante el invierno.

Después de jugar a adivinar los puntos de referencia en el paisaje y tomar estas fotos cogimos de nuevo el coche y continuamos ascendiendo por la carretera hacia el Coll de Ordino.

No pudimos parar en el punto más alto. Esperábamos que hubiera algún aparcamiento, pues conocíamos que es punto de partida de varias rutas de senderismo. Pero el poco sitio habilitado que había ya estaba ocupado. Ni siquiera podíamos dar la vuelta, por lo que tuvimos que continuar hacia abajo, adentrándonos en el otro valle.

No tardamos mucho en llegar a un punto en el que se abría una pequeña explanada y donde encontramos nuevas vistas que cortaban la respiración. En esta ocasión la luz del sol jugó a nuestro favor y el paisaje parecía una postal. Precioso.

Durante el trayecto de regreso traté de realizar algunas fotos a los árboles. Se apreciaba el relevo que se dan las distintas especies en función de la altura.

Con un poco más de naturaleza me despido.

Hi, dear hiver.

The Coll de Ordino is a pass between mountains located in the heart of the Principality of Andorra. It connects the parishes of Canillo and Encamp and its highest point is almost 2,000 metres above sea level. You may be familiar with the name because it has been part of the Tour de France route on several occasions. In fact, it's rare that you don't come across one cyclist on the road if you go that way.

Ascending from the village of Ordino, halfway up the pass, we find a beautiful viewpoint. It is an obligatory stop to admire the grandeur of the Ordino Valley and the mountains that surround it.

The viewpoint is on a sharp bend, so its space is limited. Only two or three cars can stop at the same time. This is an advantage when it comes to taking photos, as it is impossible for it to get too crowded.

Seeing the small village at the bottom of the valley puts you in your place. You realise how marvellous nature is, how little you are compared to its immensity. Those giant wrinkles, the river meandering in the background, the sky, the green mantle that envelops the land.

To the right of the viewpoint, your eyes go to the highest peak. It is Casamanyà, 2740 metres high. Up there, there are no more trees to resist, only grass that turns to white snow during the winter.

After playing at guessing the landmarks in the landscape and taking these photos, we took the car again and continued up the road towards the Coll de Ordino.

We could not stop at the highest point. We had hoped that there would be a car park, as we knew that it is the starting point for several hiking routes. But what little parking space there was was already taken. We couldn't even turn around, so we had to continue down into the other valley.

It wasn't long before we reached a point where a small esplanade opened up and we found new breathtaking views. This time the sunlight was in our favour and the landscape looked like a postcard. It was beautiful.

On the way back I tried to take some pictures of the trees. You could see how the different species change depending on the altitude.

With some more nature I say goodbye.
