Hello film lovers, /Bonjour les cinéphiles,

This American-South Korean film, which runs for 2 hours and 17 minutes, is available on Netflix. It falls into the science fiction, black comedy and action genres.

The story is also set in space, just like the film The Passengers, which I told you about two days ago.

It is an adaptation of the novel Mickey 7, written by Edward Ashton and published in 2022.

Nous sommes sur Netflix pour ce film américano-sud coréen, d'une durée de 2h17. Il se classe dans les catégories science-fiction, comédie noire et action.

L'histoire se déroule aussi dans l'espace, tout comme le film The Passengers dont je vous ai parlé il y a 2 jours.

C'est une adaptation du roman Mickey 7, écrit par Edward Ashton et paru en 2022.

Synopsis :

Mickey Barnes and his business partner Timo have failed to set up their macaron company. They have a loan shark after them, trying to recoup the money they don’t have.

An opportunity to leave Earth presents itself. Mickey seizes this chance and, to ensure he is selected, registers as ‘replaceable’. Once there, he discovers that his former business partner Timo had the same idea as him, except that Timo was selected for a higher rank.

Being ‘replaceable’ means you’re used as a guinea pig, and if you die, they simply print a new version of you.

Multiple versions are prohibited, so the next version can only be printed if they’re certain the previous one no longer exists.

Mickey Barnes et son associé Timo ont échoué à monter leur société de macarons. Ils ont un usurier qui les poursuit pour récupérer l'argent qu'ils n'ont pas.

L'occasion de quitter la Terre se présente. Mickey saisit cette occasion et pour être certain d'être sélectionné, il s'enregistre comme "remplaçable". C'est sur place qu'il découvrira que son ex-associé Timo a eu la même idée que lui, sauf que Timo a été sélectionné à un grade plus élevé.

Etre "remplaçable" signifie que l'on sert de cobaye et que si on meurt, on réimprime une nouvelle version de nous, tout simplement.

Les versions multiples sont interdites, on ne peut donc imprimer la version suivante que si on est sûr que la précédente n'existe plus.

I’d say it’s a bit of an odd one, and this film won’t stay with me for long.
