I’ve just finished reading the second and final volume of the Lady Pirate story.
I really enjoyed this story.

J'ai vraiment beaucoup aimé cette histoire.

If you’ve watched the series Black Sails, you’ll mainly have heard of Charles Vane and Jack Rackham. And, incidentally, Anne Bonny, Jack’s partner, who was also a pirate. If you remember, a young Mark Read joined the crew in the final episode…
In the book, Jack Rackham is called John Rackham and his son’s name is Jack…
Well, in this second volume, we continue the story of Mary Read, who often dressed up in men’s clothes. In the book, she went by the name Oliver rather than Mark.

Dans le livre, Jack Rackham s'appelle John Rackham et son fils se prénomme Jack ..Eh bien, dans ce 2e tome, on continue l'histoire de Mary Read qui se déguisait souvent avec des vêtements d'homme. Dans le livre, elle prenait le prénom d'Oliver plutôt que Mark.
The pirate Mary Read really did exist, as did Anne Bonny, whom she met whilst on Vane and Rackham’s ship.
The author has added a family connection between Mary and Anne, as well as a touch of romance to their adventures. The circumstances of their deaths have also been altered somewhat.
Mary and Anne are the two best-known female pirates in history, although there were others.
If you know of any books about pirates (male or female) based on real history, but with a touch of romance thrown in, I’d love to hear about them.
La pirate Mary Read a réellement existé, tout comme Anne Bonny, qu'elle a côtoyé sur le bateau de Vane et Rackham.
L'autrice a ajouté un lien de parenté entre Mary et Anne, ainsi qu'un peu de romance dans ses aventures. Leur fin de vie a, également, été quelque peu modifiée.
Mary et Anne sont les 2 femmes pirates les plus connues de l'histoire, même s'il y en a eu d'autres.
Si vous avez connaissance de livres qui parlent de pirates (femmes ou hommes), basés sur la vraie Histoire, avec un peu de romance quand même, je suis preneuse.
I’d quite like to rewatch the series Black Sails, if it’s available on Netflix or Prime, because I really enjoyed it.
Unfortunately, the book doesn’t seem to have been translated into English.
