It’s Saturday, everyone! I guess most of you are either relaxing at home or hanging out with friends and family. Wherever you are, I wish you a fun-filled and awesome weekend.
Since I’m currently far from my family, I spent the day hibernating in bed and squeezing in a bit of workout—mostly experimenting with my new smartwatch. Thankfully, I managed to get a better step count compared to the traditional method of using a phone.
Today, I’d like to share some photos from the night market in Johor Bahru. As I’m currently staying in Singapore, I had to cross the border to visit this market. Just for your information, Pasar Karat literally means “Rusty Market.”
Historically, this location has served as a market area for a very long time, according to local accounts. Despite how much the environment has changed over the decades, this place remains one of the most popular spots for locals to sell their items.
Imagine—back in the day, people here used to trade goods like in a wet market, including spices and daily essentials, often through a barter system or by using old gold and silver dinar coins. I believe the older generation holds many memories of this place.
Although the market itself hasn’t changed much, the surrounding infrastructure—such as roads and buildings—has been upgraded over time, giving it a more modern feel, similar to other night markets .
Yeah, that was my wife energetically walking around this place. She was really enjoying the vibes here, just trying to release all the stress from work. As you may know, the workplace environment in Singapore is often considered one of the more stressful in the world.
They were selling all sorts of items—food, toys, shoes, books, antiques, phone accessories, and much more. I noticed the place was quite clean compared to some other markets around here. I think that’s because it’s also considered a tourist spot in Johor.
The prices are cheap—some items are up to three times cheaper than what you'd pay in Singapore for the same quality, which means you can really save a lot by shopping here. Some products, like shoes, aren’t original but are high-quality AAA replicas of branded items. I’m not saying I support counterfeit goods, but at least it makes things more affordable for lower-income buyers—and honestly, this kind of trade seems to be common everywhere these days.
But if you’re looking to buy original t-shirts, you can always check out the second-hand bundle stalls. If you know what you're looking for, you might score some genuine items at a huge discount. Most of these bundle items come from overseas, and the sellers are usually aware of their value. That’s why they price them reasonably—not too high and not too low—because at the end of the day, they’re still just sellers trying to earn a living and provide for their families.
Yeah , to be honest this is my favourite places . As always , i was checking the t-shirt but too bad there was no one that become my favourite . It is good to see they just bring out the best from the hauled bundle packing. It depends on luck to get good stuff from it .
Anyway , i hope all the seller also have a good day on their selling night. I guess its all for today and wish you all the best for Sunday . THanks for stopping by , hope you enjoy today journal . See you in another post. Cheers !!

Pasar Karat looks like a fun and lively place to explore. I love how you described the vibe and history. enjoy your weekends.
Yeah , glad that you enjoy it . It was fun and the people was extremely friendly too.
I love night markets too, especially on weekends where I have so many free time in the evening. But during this hours there's a lot of people and there's a long line to order the famous foods. Toys, foods, clothes and accessories are everywhere. It's a fun time and there's a lot of cheaper options.
