Needle Work Activities: "Sewing My Daughter's School Uniform"

The colors of the uniform are checkered sky blue for the lower and golden yellow for the upper with yellow buttons. So we decided to brought the same colors and we expensed almost 300 Pesos including the yellow threads and needles. Gladly I have few savings from my Hive account and we finally brought all the materials needed. It takes a few hours of looking for the perfect colors of the clothes and finally we found it.

Measuring:

The First thing that my Mother-In-Law did was to measure my Daughter. She wrote the exact measure of the shoulder, Hips, Back, Waist. Measuring first before cutting the clothes must be needed to have an exact and perfect designs. I really amazed on how she handled very well and getting the exact measurements, for me this is one of the hardest part, I really don't know how to measure and I have no talents about sewing clothes. But learning about this is not too late in fact my Mother-In-Law teached me how to measured.

Materials Needed:

Aside of the clothes we brought, needles, pin cusion and threads are very important. Tape measure used to measure the clothes and crayons used to marked the cutting edges. My Mother-In-Law suggested us to used white thread and we aggreed about the suggestions. She checked the threads if is still good to use and after that she placed the electric sewing machine at the table. I also learned the parts of the sewing machine and its uses just like gears, how to put threads on the sewing machine and to control the runner of the machine when it sews.

Cleaning the entire sewing machine is also important, before sewing the machine must be checked particularly the gears, the runner and it must be lubricated with used oil so the wheel can spin perfectly. It takes a few minutes by checking and cleaning the thing and putting the thread must be in right place. As I observed, there's a lot of things I want to learn about sewing and how to handle the sewing machine very well. Using electric sewing machine is slightly difficult compared on the manual machine I know but I keep myself learn how to use it.

After that, My Mother-In-law started to cut the clothes in right pattern and she followed the measurement she wrote. Using a tape measure, she carefully cut the line pattern and separated those cuttings. It will ve assembled once she sew it, cutting activities takes time and fucos and it really needs to be more careful by cutting it so it wont be mistake.

After that, she carefully assembled the cutting by sewing and this time she adjust the runner thread into zigzag so the thread can sewes each side of the cuttings. The runner of the sewing machine functioned very fast and it really needs to control it so the sewed clothes wont be mistake. Sewing the upper and lower clothes for my Daughter's school uniform takes a few hours and I was very enjoyed and amazed watching my Mother-In-Law doing the work.

After that, she also sewed small neck tie since the school uniform requires a neck tie. It also takes a few minutes before the neck tie was complete and finished sewing. This cute neck tie really amazed me and it is very unique.

Next is by putting those buttons, the thing must be combined also the color of the upper of the school uniform. The sewing process must be done on hand so it needs a lot of time sewing it without using sewing machine. The threads must be fit inside of those small button wholes and it is really hard as I can see.

This is my Daughter's new school uniform And I am very thankful to my Mother-In-Law for her kindness and aside of that to teach me how to sewed clothes. Next time I will practice it by sewing simple shorts. Until next post, have a nice day to everyone.
