Starting Anew || Moving Day (Part Two): Unpacking, Fixing, Living Our New Life

We couldn't do much on the very day we arrived at the new place. We were just chilling and taking in the new environment that's going to be our home from now on. We also had some guests and a celebration to do.

That night, we all slept on the floor in one of the rooms. The new house we moved into has three, so it's much bigger than the previous one. I'm planning to make the third room my office and art studio. It would take time to do so due to the budget, but I'll eventually get there. hahaha For now, the third room serves as a storage.

My family and I were greeted by this view in the morning. It's so refreshing and peaceful. You can actually see the road from a distance, but it's not busy. We seldom see cars or motorcycles passing by... and we barely hear them. It's the opposite of where we temporarily lived last time. Here, we only hear animal sounds like cows, goats, chickens, dogs, and birds. They're far better than the honking of enormous trucks and noisy motorcycles on the expressway. For the first time in more than a month, we were able to have a good night's sleep.

On that day, my father and I went to the city center. Well, we technically live in a city, but it has more rural barangays with small urban centers. It's on the west coast of Cebu... the previous place was on the east coast of Cebu.

We bought some stuff we'll need for repairing some parts of the house, and our old, flooded stuff from the old place. The city we currently live in also houses the port to my father's hometown. That ferry in the photo will take us to my father's hometown in, more or less, 2 hours. Once we settle down, and I'm able to save a bit again, I'm going to visit my grandma... going there for a day trip is possible now! hahaha

While my father and I went to run some errands, Mama was busy sorting out our clothes. When we arrived, Papa and I repaired and cleaned the cabinets and drawers in their room. I used the plastic drawers in my room. That night, we all slept in their room again.

The next morning, my father and I decided to go out for a morning walk. We went out around 5:30 AM. :) I'll make a separate post on our walks... but the purpose this time is to check and explore the area. We wanted to see what other stuff is available around us... aside from the beautiful and refreshing nature, of course! ^^

Later that day, I painted the PVS pipes we're going to insert our old table's legs into. I also cleaned and got rid of all the mud and dirt from the table. My father fixed the loose screws underneath, and I painted it white. It looks new! But we actually placed some cloth on top and finally added the glass after cleaning it up.

My father also fixed their old bed, and I helped him repaint it. My mom finds it especially hard to sleep on the floor, so finally, they could sleep on their bed again. We just placed the foam my cousin gave us last time because they had to throw away the old one as it was soaked in muddy flood water.

On the third night here, I could finally sleep in my own room! It's been more than a month since I had my own room, so I'm really happy. I don't mind sharing rooms with my parents, but I couldn't use my own time the way I want it because I need to consider them.

Now, I'm free to work, blog, or watch anime anytime I want without disturbing anyone. hahaha I had my windows covered because the original windows are actually broken... It's difficult to close. And I plan to paint something on this wood.

I temporarily set up my laptop here since my soon-to-be office is still being used as a storage for our unpacked things. We don't have enough cabinets or storage to put them. The other things are also for the store, and my father is still going to change the garage behind the house into a store. It will take time. So, for now, this setup will do... until I can save money for a more comfortable space.

Aside from the house, we also made a lot of progress outside. We're planning to make a huge garden since this house has a big space outside, and our landlady allowed us to do whatever we want. haha My mom will be posting updates about that, though... so please look forward to checking them out!

I love how I can see the sky without any disturbance, "aka"no electric poles and wires. hahaha
