Hey friends! It's been a while since I joined the community's challenge. Actually, it was my mom @arashi0416 who initially wanted to join this week's challenge. She asked my father to take photos when he went to the local market nearby, and he complied. However, she is kind of busy preparing another recipe blog, so she told me to join the challenge instead.
I don't mind doing so... and it would be a shame not to share the photos that my father took, right? So yeah, this is my entry for ASEAN Hive Community Challenge 156 which is about LOCAL MARKETS.
We are quite lucky, to be honest, because this small local market is just around 10-15 minutes away on foot from our house. My father usually shops for fresh vegetables, fruits, meat, fish, and so on in the morning. It's also his daily exercise, especially when my mom requests him to get some ingredients for her cooking.
I sometimes go with him when I don't have early classes, though recently I've been busy with work and my schedule is tight. It's fun just walking to this local market and buying some stuff.
In a previous post, I shared about the "urban side" of our city. I included a glimpse of our city's public market, the picture of which is what you see above.
It's huge and it has everything you need, but it's a bit far and pretty crowded, so we hardly buy stuff here. I mean, there's a convenient (although smaller) market nearby. Let's get back to it.
Here are some more photos my father took of the local market nearby. :)
We mostly buy fruit and vegetables here. Well, meat too. As for fish, there's a different place where my father usually buys. It's also walking distance, but it's not in the same area as this market. They do sell some fish and other seafood here, especially early in the morning.
Above is the fish retailer that my father frequents. I took and shared this photo in my post about the pandesal quest. hahaha
There is a chicken retail shop nearby, just 5 minutes away on foot as well. We haven't really bought from that store, but my father said a new one opened recently, and that's where he bought the drumsticks (chicken) we had for lunch earlier. Small retail shops and sari-sari stores are really common in the Philippines.
We also have one, and we restocked this morning. It was lunchtime when I took this, so it's not displayed yet.
And since it's the dog days of summer in my country, we also restocked on our ice cream. The fridge is full now! ^^ We also sell ice, and it sells really well, especially this time of year.
So yeah... those are the local markets nearby and our own mini store. haha And oh~ I'd like to add this.
A small supermarket opened a couple of minutes away from the local market last week. Our place is becoming more and more convenient, especially since these places are just walking distance. :)
Bonus Photo:
Papa also took a photo of this "carinderia". It's a local eatery common in the Philippines where people can buy and eat local homemade dishes. :)
I'll end this post here. Thanks for viewing, and see you around! (^^,)/
