Dealing With Power Cuts
It seems a big problem when darkness envelopes us. Honestly, I can't breathe when there's no light when I sleep at night hence I see to it that we have some devices in the absence of one.
My DIY Light Backups
I am quite good when it comes to artistic lights. My imagination runs wild especially in making unique DIYs.
Recycled Bulb
Things needed:
• Used bulb
• Wire
• Stand
• Pliers
Using candles will be our immediate recourse especially during typhoons where occasional black outs occur. I always tell everyone at home to not put it on the table or plastic base because it's fire hazard.
During typhoons we expect long power outage and I see to it that we have spare batteries. With my creative idea, I got two plastic used canisters. One black and the other white. I was thinking of the bedside lamp shade.
I needed the following for my DIY Recycled Canisters Lampshade:
2 canisters
Scrap silk cloth
Double-sided tape
Pair of scissors
Small flashlight
As you can see, I wrapped the canister with the scrap material using double-sided tape and pasted the edge on top. I cut a hole on the cover to hold the flashlight.
I wrapped the black canister to match the upper part.
When we had a short black out, I switched on the flashlight and it looked beautiful with the highlighted embroidery with the light illuminating inside. Isn't it beautiful?
When solar light was introduced, I bought a set of emergency solar flashlight with 4 bulbs. I like it's translucent effect. It looked cool actually unlike the electric light.
I also bought a little solar panel to match that circle lamp. It will be useful while waiting for the electrical power to come back.

Rechargeable fan is a relief when there's power cut!
When there's power cut at home, we would eat outside in our terrace to feel the cool wind while eating or go to the Barbeque Grill stalls with torches around. It's like a camp out. The young ones prefer to take a dip at a nearby spring resort to feel refreshed! Better make the most of it when there's power cut because it happens everywhere due to unavoidable circumstances.
Thank you for dropping by my page!
it is interesting to see the bulb, it reminds me years ago when i was a kid using the bulb for lighting filled with oil, no electricity when i was in primary school
That's good. No electric bills to pay! Things were simple before and less worries.
I like the highlighted embroidery Sis you are really artistic!
I understand how inconvenient it is during power outage, i feel the same way esp that I work from home mostly and when this happened it's not fun dealing with darkness and no electric fan too.
Exactly! That's inconvenient especially when you're doing home based job. Our friend was inclined to buy their own power generators so as not to hamper her online classes. I've experienced the same when I needed to pass 15 articles/ day when we had 3 days power black out due to low pressure. The result, I got a penalty from our company. That's the sad part when there's power interruption and they won't accept reasons. I decided to quit and do blogging instead where I can work in my own pace and less worries.
I also bought a back up power as I worked from home too. Things you do to keep your job like buying things like this.
