Hello there! How's the weather out there? It's been raining nowadays which prompted me to cook something hot to fill our tummies to keep us warm inside.
I prepared a healthy menu namely: Sour Stewed Fish
Ingredients:
• 1 big fish, sliced (your choice)
• Ginger
• 2 sticks Spring Onions
• 2 large tomatoes, chopped
• 2 Bell peppers
• 4-6 pcs. Batuan
• 1 sm. Sachet of tamarind powder
• a pinch of black pepper
• Salt & Seasonings to taste
I used the bigger version of Sap-sap or Pony Fish and sliced it into five segments. Wash it thoroughly and set aside.
• Fill your wok with enough water and bring to boil.
• Add the tomatoes, spring onions (excluding the leaves), ginger and batuan.
• Add the fish but don't stir. Wait until 15 minutes.
• When the soup becomes milky, it means that the batuan oozed out it's natural flavor already.
• Next, add the bell peppers and onions leaves.
• Finally, add a pinch of black pepper, salt and seasoning to taste.
• You may add the tamarind powder to enhance the flavor. My granddaughter likes to add more sour flavor you know so I keep extra sachet for her.
Serve hot!

As you may have observed, all the spices has their own healthy benefits including the fish. All of which are fat free.
Batuan gives the unique flavor of my sinigang. It oozes out a creamy texture giving a savory sour taste and smooth to your palate. It is believed to lower the high cholesterol level in your body, notwithstanding the other nutrients it posses in each fruit. This unique fruit is often wild though some started to raise them due to the healthy benefits it could offers to humans.
Once again, thank you for dropping by my page!

Tinolang Isda is one of the wonder soup that I like. It has the ability to cure fever, cold, cough and upset stomach. My mom used to cook this when us her children are sick.
You're right. They call it 'til-ugon' it means that that kind of food won't endanger the sick especially the conceiving mothers. Thanks the visit!
