Experiencing Balinese Elegance: My Visit to the Ramayana Fashion Show

I recently visited the Ramayana department store to see a fashion show. The atmosphere was casual, with loudspeaker announcements filling the first floor. The stage was set in front of a pond, creating a backdrop for the event. As I looked around, I saw Balinese girls standing and walking through the stage, ready to showcase their traditional attire.

The young girls looked beautiful in their Balinese dresses. They wore elegant white kebayas and sarongs with yellow motifs. Their makeup enhanced their natural beauty, and their hair was styled in the traditional sanggul.

I watched from a distance as the girls walked to the stage and then approached the judges, who sat close to each other. There were four judges, and the girls seemed composed and confident as they presented themselves. Although I didn’t interact with anyone, observing from afar gave me a sense of the event's significance.

The fashion show inspired me deeply. It was wonderful to see that the Balinese style is still cherished and preserved, despite the influence of international fashion trends. These traditional outfits are often worn for temple visits and religious ceremonies, highlighting their cultural importance.

Witnessing the event made me reflect on the beauty and strength of Balinese culture. The commitment to preserving traditions through clothing resonated with me, emphasizing the importance of heritage in a fast-changing world.

Overall, the Ramayana fashion show was more than just a display of clothing; it was a celebration of Balinese culture and identity. The elegance and significance of traditional Balinese dress left a lasting impression on me, and I felt grateful to witness such a beautiful display of cultural pride.

Why 2 people had masks over their mouth? Are people wearing this because they are afraid of a virus or air pollution? Or just a habit? It makes no sense whatsoever if they leave out the nose. At least the masks are less harmful that way :)

I think it is just habit. Or maybe they have flu 😀. Anyway, mask is not compulsary.
