First Time, First Dip: Tuslob Buwa

Hello everyone! It's been a while! I hope some of you still remember me. I'm @lorene08, and I'm here again with another blog to share!

Sorry for being inactive here. Apart from having nothing to post, I've also been occupied with school. Our classes began last June 16, and it's been hectic ever since. Anyway, let's get this blog going!

Last June 20, which was Friday, my cousins and I, along with Ashley, decided to try eating Tuslob Buwa. This has already been a topic between me and my cousins, John and Roxy. They really wanted to convince me to try it, so we planned to do it. Because we survived the first week of school, we finally decided to push through with it, because we deserved it!

I invited Ashley as well. The plan was originally, I'd treat them to Worthy, and John would treat us to Tuslob Buwa. But when we arrived, the place was so full, most likely because other students also wanted to spoil themselves after making it through the week. Since it was full, we decided to go to Lapyahan directly to eat there instead, and I ended up treating all of them to Tuslob Buwa.

Before heading out, I wanted to post some quick shots of what my afternoon was like.

From the time I began Grade 12, my lunch routine was changed. Our cousin John moved to our school, and our grandmother advised us to take our lunch with our other cousin, Roxy. Her aunt ("Mommy" as we call her) owns a house close to our school, so we frequently take our lunch there.

It was sincerely a bit of a hassle to me since I wasn't used to going out of the classroom or the campusfor lunch. But I had no choice (and it's exhausting too since our room is on the 3rd floor while John and Roxy's rooms are on the 4th flooršŸ˜¬šŸ’”).

(Here's the photo of me and Roxy when we arrived at the gate and when we were already inside the campus. Credits to John's phone)

Our MIL teacher was on leave as his wife had given birth. Thus, we had some spare time during his class time. I joinex my classmates who wanted to buy ice cream. I did not intend to buy one as I was saving money for our later plans, but my classmate and friend named Ericka bought me a ₱15 ice cream. I was really happy (thank you, Ericka šŸ¤).

Fast forward to 4:48 PM, we had our school flag retreat. Actually, it was my first time being at one officially. I had been to a classroom version in Grade 9 but this was different. Since Grade 12 students have the Friday schedule for the flag retreat, this was indeed my first time (my previous private school did not have this, hehe). Here's a cutiee photo of me and my classmate Biancey, captured by Angela while waiting🄹

By 5:12 PM, we were walking to the Tuslob Buwa stall. Lapyahan was just walking distance from our school.

We got there at 5:18 PM. We were the only customers yet because it was still early, people tend to come at night. The staff told us to wait for a little while as they warmed up the main Tuslob Buwa mixture.

I suddenly felt like I had to pee, so I asked Ashley to accompany me to the closest restroom, which was the Church's restroom, but it was locked. So I had no other choice but to head to Lapyahan's restroom, where there was a ₱5 charge.

When we returned, the utensils and ingredients were already set.

For those who don't know, Tuslob Buwa is made from the pig's brain and liver. It’s cooked on the spot and eaten with puso(hanging rice). You dip the puso into the bubbling sauce, that's why it is named as: "Tuslob" means "to dip" and
"Buwa" means "bubbles."

Roxy cooked it for us because it was the first time for Ashley and me. While John forgot how to cook it, so Roxy was our chef for the day.

It didn't take long to cook. Roxy asked whether she could put in some extra pepper, so she let me taste it. I told her to put in some extra pepper and also add soy sauce to make it more flavorful and then it tasted wonderful! John and Ashley agreed as well.
IMG_7311.jpeg

I was really looking forward to it, but also a bit nervous in case it would upset my stomach. But when I dipped the rice into it and took a bite it was delicious! I really enjoyed it!
IMG_7313.jpeg

My friend and cousins laughed at me since I was being so silent while eating, they joked that I must have been enjoying it a lot. And yes, they were totally correct HAHAHAHA!

At 6:00 PM, we did not even know how time flew because we were too busy eating (unli Tuslob Buwa, HAHAHAHA). After that, we already thought of leaving early because it was already late, and we still planned to drop by Mr. DIY, which closes at 7 PM.
IMG_7730.jpeg

The unlimited Tuslob Buwa was ₱200, which was totally worth it. The puso(hanging rice) wasn't included in the promo (only 8 were in it), so Roxy paid for the additional ones, I forgot how many precisely.
IMG_7296.jpeg

We paid for all of our meals and went to Mr. DIY by 6:19 PM. Roxy, Ashley, and I walked, while John went ahead on his motorcycle.
IMG_7728.jpeg

We reached Mr. DIY at 6:23 PM. I badly wanted to buy a new charger since mine got broken it stopped charging🤔🤔. We were there for nearly 20 minutes since one of the employees convinced us to try different products(sales talk😭 HAHAHAH) And yes, I bought a charger, and Roxy did too since she got persuaded as well WAHAHAHAH!

That's all for today! The first week of school was roughly 30% fun, and the other, I don't even know! It honestly feels like the start of another hellish school year. I hope we all survive this school year , and to everyone, best of luck! Let's all rock it together!

Good luck and fighting, future dreamers!
Until next time in my next blogs!! šŸ¤
