A Jumbo Cassava

Yesterday I went fishing at a quiet lake near my house, hoping to catch many fish and enjoy a peaceful afternoon. The sky was clear, and a gentle breeze moved across the water, creating small ripples that shimmered under the sun. I carefully chose a good spot along the bank, believing it would bring me luck. With patience and excitement, I cast my line into the lake and waited, imagining the big fish I would proudly take home.

As time passed, I noticed there was no movement on my fishing line. Instead of fish, something else caught my attention. On the bank of the lake stood a healthy cassava tree with bright green leaves. It looked strong and beautiful against the calm background of the water. The leaves were thick and fresh, and the plant seemed unusually large. Curiosity filled my mind, and I began to wonder how big the cassava roots beneath the soil might be.


Unable to resist my curiosity, I decided to dig around the base of the tree. The soil was soft, making it easier to work with my hands. After digging for a while, I felt something large and firm under the ground. Carefully, I cleared away more soil and was amazed to discover a jumbo cassava root hidden beneath.

I worked hard to pull it out completely, using all my strength. Finally, I lifted it from the earth and realized it weighed about five kilograms. It was the biggest cassava I had ever seen and a surprising reward for my fishing trip.
