Happy Wednesday Hivers!
One of the goals my mother and I had when we started our garden was to grow most of the ingredients we need in the kitchen. Back then, we often imagined how wonderful it would be to simply walk into the garden whenever we were cooking and pick the fresh ingredients we needed for our meals.

With that dream in mind, we began transforming a small piece of land little by little. We prepared the soil, planted different vegetables and herbs, and cared for them every day with patience and dedication. It was not an overnight process, but we enjoyed every step of the journey as we watched our garden gradually come to life.

Now, four months after we started working on our garden, we are slowly living that dream. It is incredibly fulfilling to harvest fresh ingredients just a few steps from our home and use them in the dishes we prepare for our family. Seeing our hard work pay off makes every effort worthwhile, and it inspires us to continue growing more of what we need right in our garden.

Last week, my mother and I decided to cook Fish Tinola after she bought some fresh fish from the market. We were both excited because it was the perfect opportunity to use some of the fresh ingredients growing in our garden.

For those who may not be familiar with it, Fish Tinola is a traditional Filipino soup made with fish, fresh aromatics and fresh vegetables. Often enjoyed as a home-cooked meal, it perfectly showcases how a few fresh ingredients can come together to create something truly delicious and satisfying.

So, we went to the garden to gather fresh aromatics and vegetables for our Fish Tinola. We harvested lemongrass, sweet potato tops, spinach, long chili peppers, spring onions, and malunggay leaves. As we picked each ingredient, we truly enjoyed the experience and felt grateful for what our garden had provided.

While harvesting, we found ourselves looking back on how this was once just a dream we carried in our minds. Back then, we could only imagine walking into our garden and picking fresh ingredients for our meals. Now, we are finally harvesting the fruits of our hard work and dedication, and that feeling is incredibly rewarding.

This experience reminded us that a dream will remain just a dream if it stays only in our minds. Anyone can dream, but dreams begin to take shape when they are accompanied by action. When we put our plans into practice and work toward them consistently, we start seeing real results. Instead of simply imagining what could be, we bring our dreams to life step by step. And before we know it, what once seemed like a distant vision becomes a reality we get to live and enjoy every day.

Well, the Fish Tinola turned out incredibly delicious. You could truly taste the freshness of the fish, the fragrant aromatics, and the freshly harvested vegetables in every spoonful. The flavors blended together perfectly, creating a light yet satisfying meal.

It may be a simple dish, but for us, it was exceptionally delicious. Perhaps it tasted even better because many of the ingredients came straight from our garden. Knowing that we had grown and harvested them ourselves made the meal more meaningful and enjoyable. Sometimes, the simplest dishes become the most memorable when they are prepared with fresh ingredients and shared with the people we love.
