Happy Saturday Hivers!
I mentioned in my previous blog that my sister was able to buy a piece of land near our house. It’s about 308 square meters, and our plan is to turn it into a mini farm.
Farming is a beautiful kind of work because it truly brings joy to the heart, especially when you see the crops you planted growing and eventually bearing fruit. However, farming really requires hard work and patience. Without those two, it’s easy to give up, especially when the plants you’ve worked on die.
Farming can be exhausting, but at the same time, it is very rewarding.

I haven’t posted a blog in quite a while because I’ve been busy cultivating our mini farm. It’s just me and my mom working on it, and I’ve realized that a 308-square-meter piece of land is actually quite big to manage, especially for beginners in farming.

During the first week we started cultivating the land, I found it very tiring. My body ached, but I didn’t want to give up. Ever since I was young, I’ve always loved planting, and this time, I finally decided to follow that passion.

I’ve reached the point where my body feels completely exhausted by the time I get home from the mini farm. I no longer have the energy to work on my blog, especially since I also have other responsibilities to take care of aside from farming. That’s why I really admire bloggers who are able to post every single day.

So this time, I want to show what we’ve planted in our mini farm over the past 1.5 months. We started planting around the third week of March, although some of the plants were actually grown earlier in our backyard and then transferred to the mini farm once the land was ready.
For example, the red bell peppers were first planted in our backyard while we were still preparing the farm. Later on, we transferred them to the mini farm, and after 1.5 months, they’ve already started to bear fruit. It’s such a fulfilling feeling to finally see something you planted grow and produce.

Meanwhile, the cassava has started sprouting, the sweet potatoes and eggplants are already growing well, and we now have plenty of seedlings like chili and water spinach (kangkong) that are ready to be transferred.

In another part of the farm, we’ve already prepared the soil because that’s where we plan to plant the chili. As you can see, cultivating the land can really be exhausting, but it’s also very fulfilling.
I’m truly happy because ever since I was young, I’ve always wanted to embrace the “farm-to-table” concept and now, little by little, I’m finally living it.
I even told my mom, “You know what, even though I wake up early and the work on the farm can be tiring, I feel motivated to get up every day, unlike before when I was still working in a corporate job.” Even though there’s no air-conditioning and I’m exposed to the heat while working on the farm, I find myself happier being here than staying in a cold office. My mother just smiled at me.
I’m really grateful to God for leading me to something I’m truly passionate about.

Thank you for reading and see you on my next blog. Cheers!
