Happy Wednesday Hivers!
A few months ago, we bought around PHP 100 worth of spring onions to plant. This was the beginning of our journey in growing spring onions because our plan was to propagate and grow them continuously.
Our main goal for growing spring onions is both for our own consumption and for selling the extra harvest. Thankfully, we already have a buyer at the local market, so we don’t have to look for other buyers whenever we have a harvest. This makes growing spring onions even more worthwhile for us because we already have a ready market for our produce.

After two months since we started planting spring onions, we have been harvesting them regularly, although only in small amounts for our own consumption. However, this morning, while my mother was replanting some of the spring onions, she noticed that they had multiplied and grown abundantly.
Since we already have more than we can consume, we decided that it was time to sell some of our harvest instead of letting them go to waste. It was a simple but rewarding moment for us because we realized that our small planting project had grown more than we expected.

We harvested a total of one kilogram of spring onions, and when my mother delivered them to our buyer, we sold the entire kilo for PHP 100.00.
We’re already happy with the result because the harvest was more than enough for our own consumption, and we still have plenty of spring onions left in the garden that we can replant and continue growing.

Growing spring onions has been a great experience for us because they multiply quickly and are relatively easy to propagate. It’s a simple crop to grow, yet it can provide both food for our family and a small source of extra income.
We also made sure to keep enough spring onions for our own consumption. We really love using spring onions, especially when cooking different kinds of vegetables. They add a fresh aroma and flavor to our dishes, so having them readily available in our garden is very convenient.

We’re happy with how our spring onion planting journey has turned out. What started with just PHP 100 worth of spring onions has grown into a continuous supply for our family, with extra harvest that we can sell for additional income. It may be a simple crop, but for us, it’s a rewarding and practical way to make good use of our garden. We’re excited to continue growing and harvesting more spring onions in the future!
Thank you for reading and see you on my next blog. Cheers!
