Happy Friday Hivers!
I never expected to receive such a lovely surprise this morning! A friend of mine came by and gave us some fruits for free. She's also a friend of my mom, and the two of them are actually quite close, I'd say they're even closer to each other than she and I are. Haha!

When she saw me, she drove her motorcycle closer to where I was and told me she had something to give. Oh, it was still so early in the morning! I had just come from the garden, which is, of course, part of my daily morning routine. As she opened the storage compartment under her motorcycle seat, I caught a glimpse of the mangosteens and pomelos inside. Wow! I was genuinely surprised and excited to see those fruits. What a lovely way to start my morning!

Actually, mangosteen is one of my favorite fruits. Funny enough, I have a little story to share about my first encounter with this fruit.
The first time I saw mangosteen, I kept wondering how on earth people ate it. Haha! I was so clueless back then. I rarely saw mangosteens being sold in Cebu. Although some vendors displayed them occasionally, they weren't always available, perhaps because they were only sold during certain seasons.

I couldn't resist my curiosity because I was so attracted to their beautiful purple color. So, I finally gathered the courage to ask the vendor how to eat them. Can you imagine what I thought? I actually thought the skin might be part of what we were supposed to eat! Hahaha!
The vendor patiently showed me how to open the fruit and explained that the soft, white flesh inside was the part we could eat.

Do you know how I felt at that moment? I was so happy because I finally got to taste the fruit I had been curious about. At the same time, I felt a little embarrassed because I was so clueless about something as simple as eating mangosteen. But then I told myself, "Anyway, the vendor didn't even know me, so it wasn't a big deal." Hahaha!

By the way, these pomelo and mangosteens came all the way from Davao! My friend had just returned from a vacation there and brought these delicious fruits with her. Davao is well-known for its delicious and sweet fruits, so I was even more excited to receive them.

I'm truly grateful for this unexpected gift from my friend. It's not just about the fruits but also the thoughtfulness behind them. Sometimes, the simplest things bring us the biggest smiles. Thank you for making my morning extra special!
Thank you for reading and see you on my next blog. Cheers!
