A Joyful Fiesta and Family Gathering in Our Little Paradise

We rarely get the chance to gather as a complete family, as some of us live in Cebu while others are abroad. Although it’s not always easy for everyone to be present, we make it a point to come home for the St. Joseph fiesta celebration in our little paradise each year. This time, we were fortunate that many members of our immediate family were able to return.

Come, let me walk you through our fiesta celebration and family gathering.

One of the things we always look forward to when we go on vacation in Leyte is our little paradise. Of course, there’s the joy of swimming in the sea and honestly, everything about that place is something we look forward to.

Every summer, the sea gets high enough to reach our fence. After the fiesta celebration, some of our family members went for a swim, while our three brothers stayed behind to sleep, they had been drinking and went to bed late during the celebration.

Although the weather was quite warm at the time, the heat wasn’t too intense. There were even moments of light drizzle, which we were grateful for, especially while my siblings were enjoying the sea.

It’s almost impossible for us to go home to Leyte without swimming in the sea, it’s one of our favorite ways to bond as siblings. We had even more fun this time because our brother bought a paddleboard. Most of the time, we head to the beach after the fiesta celebration because no matter how tired we are after swimming, we can immediately rest.

During the fiesta celebration, we opted to have the food catered since it’s no longer practical for our parents to handle all the cooking. It turned out to be a great choice because it meant much less work for everyone. We arranged catering for about 100 people, but in the end, we only had a few guests. Many of the friends and relatives we invited weren’t able to visit, as some chose to avoid going out due to hot weather.

The fiesta celebration and our family gathering were still enjoyable. Even though we didn’t get to spend as much time together as we would have liked, we made sure that the time we shared was meaningful. What matters most is that we were able to relax, reconnect, and create happy memories together.
