🀳 Dad-Daughter Selfies, Kitty Nests, Toilet Water & Landscapes 🚽

With the evening approaching, I found myself without photos for a Hive post, so I grabbed my daughter and forced her to take a selfie with me.

🀨 Laugh Or Be Destroyed

Β  Β  Β It seems every day now I have to make a choice between house-husbanding and working more than full-time, but most often I end up doing both. It's usually around 6pm that I realize once again I am without any photos due to a lack of time, so today I managed to gather all my photos in less than 2 minutes. Srey-Yuu was the first target, and her weak attempts at resisting a selfie with her dad were easily thwarted with some bad humor and tickling.

πŸͺΉ I Make Kitty Nests

Β  Β  Β ChairWoman Meow brings me a lot of joy each day, teaching me things like one can enjoy life to the fullest with zero material possessions other than fur and claws. If I'm working in the kitchen, she watches and will taste anything once, often leading to snacks I never knew a cat would like, still nutritional yeast and seaweed reign supreme in Meow's book of tastes. When I do Hive stuff she keeps my lap warm, and sometimes I pay her back by building her napping nests and helping her get on top of the walls in our house where she can find "wall meat," aka geckos snacks.

🚰 High-Tech Water Collection

Β  Β  Β After a few selfies and a kitty nap nest, I thought I'd show you how we collect the majority of our water. It rains here non-stop nearly year-round, and the massive basin in our bathroom stays full just from the rainfall collected from the roof.

Β  Β  Β Half a water bottle attached to an improvised PVC pipe gutter with a hose running to the interior of the bathroom is not high-tech nor beautiful, but it will work just fine until this bathroom is destroyed to open up the mountain view for the back rooms of our house. These rooms will eventually become dorm rooms for mountain climbers, but until then building a new reception/bar/kitchen area with a living space for us on the 2nd floor is our priority.

🏞️ Steung Kach Landscapes

cvcbb.png

Β  Β  Β The current challenge in the ASEAN Hive Community is πŸ“Έ Landscape Photography ⛰️, so I decided to take a few pics of our beautiful backyard, complete with a violent river of chocolate milk. As the challenge creator, of course I make myself ineligible for the prizes, but I still wanted to spread some awareness of the challenge while it's active.

Β  Β  Β We do have some pretty beautiful landscapes here in the Cardamom Mountains of Cambodia, and Steung Kach is one of the most scenic places within this national park. One of the reasons is because we are within the boundaries of the Phnom Samkos Wildlife Refuge, legally protected more than other areas within the park, but in reality laws mean nothing in Cambodia. The more likely reason this place has been kept somewhat natural is its ruggedness and remoteness. That's all for now folks.

I'm staying in 4th floor on a 5 storey building. The top floor do have the type of gutter same as your roof. However, they connect a downpipe lead it straight to the ground floor gutter and flush the rain water to the main drainage system.

Now that you mentioned, I'm seriously considering to poke a hole at the down pipe, insert a custom made spoon and block the opening, so it will partially direct rain water to my house πŸ™„

Hmm... I'm imagining a glass wall bathroom with a huge white jacuzzi tub facing at the mountain ... Oh my. I don't need to climb the mountain. If I don't get a girlfriend, just throw my ex-girlfriend(now wife) in that tub, I will join with my rubber duck shortly... Sorry children 🀣🀣🀣

Haha, then all you need is an exit drain. Bye-bye water bills, bye-bye children, the door to the rainwater bathroom is triple-locked.

wouldn't your water collection thing get backed up in a truly huge downpour? I suppose it would just overflow over the side. I also presume that your bathroom floor has another drain in case of overflow inside. As long as the weight of backed up water doesn't rip the guttering off the building, I think it is a great design and who doesn't love free water?

Luckily it is imperfectly designed the right way. Excess water overflows on the toilet side of the basin, not the side with the washing machine and electricity, thankfully. There is an exit drain where the wall meets the floor, and I am surprised the water actually flows towards the drain, a true rarity in Cambodia. The only problem is there is no tap at the lowest point of the basin, so if we ever want to drain it we have to pump the water out.

It is not easy sometimes, but I realize my wife has many conditions that make it hard for her to be on her feet and doing the housework. I actually enjoy house-husbanding, but the only problem is that there is no income for the household when I am house-husbanding. Thanks for stopping by my friend.

Chairwoman Meow looks so comfortable in her nest πŸ€— By the way, you have a beautiful backyard β€οΈπŸ€—

Thank you, I don't think the ChairWoman would stay with us due to our vegan diet, but luckily we have lots of tall grass full of critters to hunt and eat, and now I refer to geckos as wall-meat instead of geckos 🀣.
