Good day, Hiverians! How are you all doing?
I want to share an update with you—I’m sure you’ll love this! Just yesterday, we planned a walk to visit Nanay Ladia’s farm, which has a variety of seedlings. This was my last adventure while staying in Canhaway, as I’m now back home.
It still feels unreal, but I’ve made so many memories in this place. Now, it’s time for another adjustment. But before that, I’d love to share my adventure from yesterday!
Nanay and I often take walks to their farm in Masayag, and this time, we had a companion—a young adult from our church who works as a nutritionist. We waited for her for around 10 to 20 minutes before setting off on our walk at around 6 a.m. The farm is roughly 2 kilometers away, and as always, the journey was a refreshing experience.
this is ate Ellen, our newest recruit hahaha
By the time we arrived at the farm, my shoes—which weren’t that dirty at first—ended up getting just as muddy as I expected after walking around the area.
6 a.m. heat, soft and golden—
The sun rose with quiet warmth,
wrapping us in a glow that felt both gentle and fierce.
It was one of those fleeting moments—simple,
yet beautiful enough to hold onto.
Let me show you around guys, come on. come join me!
These are their rice fields—vast and beautiful. I think in about two weeks, they’ll be ready for harvest. It’s amazing to see how full and golden they’re becoming.
They also have a coffee tree on their farm. They were able to harvest from it last year, and now they’re just waiting for the right season to do it again this year.
They’ve also planted tomatoes here—it's been about a month, and now they’re growing well and nearly ready for harvest.
Look at these beautiful peanuts—this is one of my favorites, especially during harvest time. I used to sneak a few to eat while picking them, back when my grandfather had his own farm that he lovingly tended to.
The squash plants are spreading across the farm, their large green leaves sheltering the growing fruits beneath. Soon, they’ll ripen, ready to be harvested and bring a fresh, earthy taste to the table.
Of course, bananas are always a part of any farm, and they’re one of my favorites, especially here in the countryside. Bananas truly define the beauty of rural life, even though there are challenges that come with it.
They also have a tree called "Miracle Fruit" which, according to those who’ve tried it, can be made into wine.
And this is the exciting part—the most awaited moment: the cherry tree and its adorable flowers. They’re so cute that I couldn’t resist taking pictures of them; I just love them so much!
Look at these beautiful pictures, and this stunning cherry! What I love about the unripe cherry is its perfect taste when paired with a bit of salt, unlike the ripe ones. I remember being disappointed by how sour the ripe cherries were, but I discovered my perfect flavor when they were still unripe.
Meet Ate Ellen and my beautiful self, proudly showcasing the amazing harvest from nature and the true country life. We were in such a great mood, taking selfies that perfectly capture this beautiful moment!
And of course, the three of us—two plus one, and now we’re three. It’s been such an amazing journey that started with an unexpected decision and plan. I’m so grateful to God for this opportunity to enjoy His incredible creation.
They have this hand tractor for tilling the soil and preparing it for planting crops. I tried it, but it’s quite heavy, haha! Still, it’s incredibly useful, especially for breaking through hard soil.
At this very moment, we want to express our deepest gratitude and appreciation to Nanay Aurea, Nay Ladia's sister, for her dedication in taking care of this farm along with her son. At 83 years old, she is still alive, kicking, and thriving on the farm, a true testament to her strength and spirit.
If I'm not mistaken, this farm is registered under the Department of Agriculture, though I can’t recall the exact name. They also have a Farmers' Organization, but the issue is the lack of support from the DOA, which is quite unfortunate. Hopefully, they’ll start giving more importance to farmers, especially for all the crops, because they’re the reason we’re still able to enjoy rice and other crops nowadays.
I can honestly say that the adventure we had in this incredibly beautiful place was unforgettable. After that morning walk and exploration of the farm, I felt completely relaxed, refreshed, and satisfied throughout the day. It was a reminder of how nature and simple moments can bring so much peace and joy, and I’m grateful for every bit of it.
Til then, thanks for stopping by :)

What a beautiful panoramic view of nature and the farm itself. I missed my garden too. Life in the farm is truly a blessing if you only know how to be self-sufficient. Good job @jessmcwhite!
Yes indeed po ate Glo, thanks po for the support!
I missed the countryside. The beautiful scenery that comes naturally, especially in the early morning walks, is nothing else but painted by the hand of the Almighty.
Those beautiful gardens that they tilled and thrived because of their tender loving care are truly a testament to their hard work. God bless them more. Wild cherries are tasteful, especially dipped in salt, which too I enjoy eating while on the farm. Thanks for sharing your adventure @jessmcwhite. It's so lovely to dwell on it.💖🌷
Indeed po ate, and I started to miss this place, I'm home now kasi.
