Random Post: Harvesting Coconuts and Farm Visits

Greetings everyone, it was a fine and sunny day when we do coconut harvesting here at the Farm. We do harvesting every two months but now, we do not expecting to harvest lots of coconuts because of the previous intense heat because of the summer happens here in our Place. We are very lucky to have lots of coconut trees and approximately 400 coconut trees planted here. Most of the trees are now produced lots of coconut fruits and this is one of our Primary source of income. Aside of that, let me take you a quick tour here at the Farm.

For 29 years, my Father already achieved and gain a good results about his coconut trees. Harvesting takes a lot of time and few days before it will completely harvested.

This morning at exactly 8 in the morning when harvester came and they decided to do the job on time and early in the morning so that it will finish on time. First, they sharpened their tools to used for harvesting. Getting coconuts from the topis not really and very dangerous that is why it needs to be more careful. It will be a great challenge for them to do the job. While we also waiting below and gathered the the fruits in one place so it will be very easy to hauled in a cart pulled with a carabao. Transporting and transferring coconuts will be carried from other side of the place and needs to cross the river.

This is the parts of the river were we always passing by. The water was continued to dry because of the intense heat happens here. The cart can easily pass here because the water is not really deep. Lots of big and small stones can be seen here and a crystal clear water can be seen even fish, crabs and shrimps can be seen swim under water.

This are the coconuts planted by my Father, it already grows tall and produces lots of coconut fruits. There are lots of fallen fruits here in this place and every time we do searching here. Last time we started to worried about because of the intense heat happens here and some of it are already dehydrated because of the heat. Lucky only few of our plants being damage and continued to survived until today. Lots of dried leaves from the coconuts are also very useful, we used it as a broom sticks used to clean the yard or sell to the market place.

The cut dried coconut leaves is also used as an organic fertilizer and we put it surrounding in the plants. It keeps the surrounding place cool and protect the roots from intense heat. When this leaves decompost, it will be very perfect to applied as an organic fertilizers to the plants specially coconut trees. We carefully piled those leaves near at the coconut trees and also clean the surroundings.

There are also lots of trees just like molave trees grows here at the farm. We let this tree lives and grows here so that it gives a cool and shady place. This is one of the most hardest and native trees found here in Mindanao, this tree is also good for furniture porpuses just like cabinets, chairs, doors and windows. Floors and walls is also good by this kind of trees.

Fruit Trees:

This are some of the fruit trees we have, this Month is the fruit season of Lanzones, Coffee Beans and Star fruits bear season. I was very happy to see some of my fruit trees produced lots of fruits. This will can be harvested for the next Month, we've plan to wrap those fruits with plastic cellophane so that the fruits wont be damage because of harmful insects.

We also decided to do a plan by renovating this simple waiting shed, this will be a perfect place to do resting everytime when we visited here. It is made of light materials just like round lumber and a coconut leaves as a rooftop.
