Visited the Final Wake of the MVP Rene "Bobet'' Baterbonia at his alma mater Ateneo de Davao University Senior High School

As a fellow Mindanaoan, I understand the pain, hurt and regret that this promising athlete's family, relative, friends, colleagues and teammate feel. It was a very sad news that shocked not only the Philippine basketball or sports network but also the fellow countrymen who are not basketball fans or enthusiasts learning that this very young athlete allegedly died of drowning during their training at a resort in Aurora.

It was really tragic that Rene's untimely demise happened and his fans supported the call for justice in his sudden death not only in social media but also in person and with that Davaoeños did not miss the chance to come to his wake from Friday June 12, Philippines Independence day to June 14 Sunday, a 3 days wake held at his alma mater wherein he represented as a student athlete and got the title of the Most Valuable Player at the recent Palarong Pambansa or the National Tournament.

Seeing the swarm of people gathering outside to fall in line waiting for their turn just to have the chance to see the MVP laid inside his coffin showed love, care and support to his family at this very difficult time of their life.

What I admire the most about these people who came to visit Bobet's wake was that even if they waited too long like for an hour to give way for the mass that happened inside they remained and stood still until the mass was finished, it was awesome to see fellow Filipinos who are like families or should I say like a one big family.

It was my very first time to experience a public viewing of a famous person's wake and these people seek justice to what happened.

It is my prayer that justice will be served for this 18 year old young man who was full of dreams for his family.
