Just Flew to the Capital City to Watch a Cultural Concert My First Time to Went This Far for This Kind of Reason

I am so grateful to witness the musical talents brought by the youth of South Korea, it was one of a kind experience to listen and hear the performance of the talented young people from the Land of the Morning Calm, I am one of the lucky selected attendees who received email from the event organizer to cone and see the world class performers.

I am a fan of cultural music and would love to learn how to play musical instruments that is native from that nation. Music is the language of the soul, I did not want to miss this rare opportunity to get a free admission ticket to attend this unique concert that happened in my country.

I arrived early at the venue as the it observed first come first serve policy, I wanted to sit in the front row so I could see the entire performance without distractions. I like where I seated it was like reserved for VIP guest though it was located at the right side of the stage, I felt comfortable to where I find my seat.

I actually seated near the flag of South Korea, so it felt more special. No one sat beside me so I placed my bags to the other seats, I felt like a Very Important Person at that time as I was able to seat with no one beside me in a front row.

There were 2 sessions of the said concert the first was scheduled at 2pm while the next one was at 6pm. Actually, I initially scheduled in the evening session but since I arrived early so I took the chance to join the earlier schedule and they still accommodated me.

The performers played the following instrument during their concert: Gayageum, Geomungo, Daegeum, Piri, Haegeum, Daeajaeng and percussions that includes the triangle, chimes, cymbals, castanets, maracas and tambourine.

There were 11 instrumentalists and 1 vocalist. Before they begin their selections the musicians introduced the sound of their musical instruments one by one. There were 3 young ladies who played the flat harp like instrument one of them played it by a bow just like a violin so I was so amazed by it and the sound was so nice in the ears, the other played with a bamboo stick and with bare hands. There were 2 young women who were the percussionists, 2 maidens who played a native violin like instrument. A combination of a girl and boy who played the long and thick bamboo flutes. Also a girl and boy combo of the smaller flutes or wind instruments. They had a great performance. Even greater when they performed Philippine folk songs the crowd cheered and applauded.

The audience were happy when the familiar songs were played by the foreign musicians. It builds strong connection between the 2 nations it defines friendship and unity.

I did not regret that I traveled far just to see for myself this wonderful international concert under the initiative of the Republic of South Korea.
