I am so grateful for this initiative made by the Ward Relief Society Organization Leaders, Church Welfare and Self-Reliance Missionaries. They materialized the 72-hour kit that our church leaders in general always reminds of having individually and as a family for emergency purposes especially at the event of unforeseen circumstances such as disasters made by nature and man-made catastrophes. Our family received 3 emergency bags. The efforts extended by the leaders from the planning stage to packing through culmination was truly inspired and wonderful. I know that when leaders magnifies their sacred callings great inspiration and revelation will surely flow their hearts and minds to help fulfill God's work in this mortal probation through His servants.

This is really a blessing for emergency preparedness. This is just the beginning to continue reminding ourselves that it is important to set aside a budget to store food and necessities for future events that only the Creator know when it will happen.

What is funny is that some of the items from this kit were already consumed some candies, biscuits and peanuts but I promised myself that I will replenish whatever was consumed so that by the time that it needs to be used sometime in the future I can be self-reliant and have my own supplies before the emergency response team from the government or church could reach me to receive the immediate help that evacuees or victims of calamities need support in uncertain times.

While the electricity was still on the process to be restored I thought of unboxing what is inside the emergency bag so I could share my thoughts and some tips that might be of help to everyone who might be needing it.

In both sides of the bag were bottled water a stainless mug was also provided.

Survival tools like knife, pentel pen, raincoat the one in blue ordered online, glow stick since this was the first time this activity was conducted more improvements would take place.

Medicinal kit something for sore throat, headache, stomachache, diarrhea, allergy, cough, flu and fever although I am not a fan of synthetic medicine anymore might be helpful for those who are still dependent on it.

First aid kit for open wound and injuries, bandages, bandaid, scissors, tape, pins, alcohol pad and gauze swab more importantly the knowledge to execute first aid assisting injured or wounded person or personal care.

Emergency blankets, I remembered while still doing mountaineering activities this one is very useful especially to avoid hypothermia for mountaineers.

Hygiene kit such as tissue and compressed towel. Actually there's more to add of course considering the budget only the items that needs to be prioritized should be available and later on desired items can be added as well. Waterproof cellphone holder is also important something that I don't have when I participated in spelunking activity during my birthday celebration that is why I don't have captured moments when I went inside the cave because I had not thought of buying one before but when my phone got broken in Ho Chi Minh airport I bought one already. Thermometers were also on the list.

Added on the hygiene kit is the comb and mirror and for survival kit is the lighter.

Canned goods good for 6 meals a variety of brand and taste. When I went inside the grocery store I already window shop my own preference of canned goods when I have enough budget to buy also check the expiration date and quality of the item if it is in good condition.

Then the water jug when there is a safe water source where evacuees could get. A good water storage is advisable in times of uncertainties.

The Ward Relief Society President herself donated the emergency bags, she's awesome she truly magnified her calling. Indeed, she anxiously engaged in a good cause and lived the Relief Society Motto: Charity Never Faileth.
