Farm to Market: A Day in Our Vegetable Life with care and pride.

VEGETABLES.png

Hello everyone! Wishing you all a wonderful and productive day ahead. Stay positive and let’s make today’s count.

Everyday life on the farm begins with a simple morning with hope, a little dirt under my nails, and a fresh vegetable harvest list on hand. I may not wear office uniform in a office building with my profession but I wake up with a sense of purpose daily – to grow and share food in many home tables around us. It’s the kind of peace that only nature can give.

**List of Vegetables that I harvested to sold: **

Raddish, Sayote, Chili, Cabbage, Chinese Cabbage, Ginger, Garlic, Onion, Bell Pepper, Tomato, Cauliflower, Baguio Beans, Cucumber.

Raddish is my favorite one because it grows fast for only 40 days and no need for more fertilizer or pesticide to spray. We carefully push out from the soil when it is need to picked and rinse it with water to be clean. It is best for sinigang and pickled dishes.

Sayote/Chayote is the best and easy to plant and harvest. Its goods for Tinola, Lumpia, pancit and adobo. As we pick each fruit it’s always a blessing. Here in our province 1 pc of sayote equivalent to 10 pesos. As per research its good for Vitamin C to boost immune system and helps in skin health. Also, Good for Vitamin B6, Support brain health and Vitamin B9 helps pregnant women for cell growth.

We take our time picking, washing, cleaning and sorting vegetables. No shortcut for quality veggies and no rushing in farm life, it’s always had time and effort.

Once everything is packed and ready to sell, we carefully gathered and load the veggies into sacks, Cellophane or baskets. Some are wrapped in banana leaves or recycled paper. We label some for our regular customer.

After we sell all of our veggies, I always consider not the coins or cash we count but also, it’s the smiles of our loyal customers. Seeing our veggies chosen by the customers reminds us why we do hardships in planting vegetables and to taking care of it.

Farming is not easy. Some days of too much sun, heavy rain or more insects to attacked to the crops. But when we see people patronize our crops, cooked vegetables from our harvest to feed their families and sometimes we giving away our vegetables to others and that’s the time I realized were part of something much bigger reasons and purpose

I’m just a simple farmer. Each vegetable we plant carries with love, effort and our dream for a better future. Believing always with the saying ‘Grow what you love, sell what you trust and share what you have.”This is my own pictures edited in Canva.

Thank you for reading my post. It really means a lot to me that you took time to stop by. I hope you found something useful and inspiring. Wishing you all the best in everything you do, Be healthy, eat healthy vegetable always, and lets keep learning and uplifting each other.
