Sara, Iloilo is a town unlike any other. It’s where I grew up. It’s really simple. Places like this, where you can enjoy living simply, are like a gem to my heart. Read on for more of my childhood adventures!
I grew up here. I’ve stayed here since I was a baby until now, 23 years old. Our simple plaza has a statue of Jose Rizal.
(of course) and the municipal building next to it. The church is also fantastic.
Before, there was no Gaisano Grand Mall, but now there is one.
Our town is so different now compared to before.
We are so grateful to our new mayor because he is so kind and hardworking for our town. Before, there was trash everywhere, but now our mayor has hired people to clean our town. The people of Sara are so happy because they now have jobs and income.
Sara is a peaceful place where farming is the main livelihood. You can see tricycles, pedicabs, and motorcycles driving around.
July 24th is the feast day of our beloved town. Everyone looks forward to the joyous fiesta. We call it Sulay Basya.
The Sulay Basya is a festival in honor of Saint John the Baptist and the baptism of Jesus, which started Jesus' evangelical mission. This festival is celebrated with water, the key element in baptisms.
Sulay is the Hiligaynon word for getting wet, usually under the rain or any gushing water, and Basya means “to intentionally douse water on someone or group of people.”
I look forward to the time when we get soaked. It’s so beautiful, especially when the water they pour on you has bubbles. Many people join our fiesta. People from different towns come here to witness how beautiful the town of Sara is.
And that’s not all. There are also many tourist spots you can see here in our place, like Tula Tula Falls, which is located in Brgy. Tady, Iloilo.
This is a beautiful waterfall with very refreshing water. There’s also the( BAHAY na BARKO) or Mt Vernice Rose Shiphaus. This can be found in Latawan, Sara, Iloilo, a place that is located between two towns, Roxas City and Sara, Iloilo. It’s so beautiful here. You can see the beautiful view from the top, where you can see the beautiful mountains.
These are the things I am proud of about my beloved town.
Thank you for reading my story. @asean.hive @aseanculture God bless you.*
There are indeed a lot of spots and places you can be proud of in your hometown. 💯
