     It's a new year and with that comes a new challenge, but I guess that's mostly because it's a new week. Anyhow, this week's challenge is all about portraits, whether it be photography, painting, drawing, all forms are welcome. Your subject doesn't even need to be human, dogs, cats, and many other creatures have body structures suitable for portraits. Aspect ratios like 3:2 and 4:3 are commonly used for portrait photography, but for this challenge that is not a requirement.

     What is more important than pixel dimensions is how the subject is framed. Most often portraits include the face/head and shoulders of a person, but often extend to the waistline, and this focus on the upper body allows the photographer to capture subtle human emotions otherwise missing from far away shots. Okay folks, neighbors, family members, strangers, pets, all are fair game for this week's challenge, so let's see those portraits........

Today was noisy at home. My two kids were poking each other and laughing loudly. In the middle of all that chaos in the dining area, I found myself quietly talking with my wife, sharing our thoughts in secret. "Pssst," I whispered, leaning in slightly, "what should I write about today?" She suggested, "Mmmm, how about our plans for 2024?" It seemed like a simple and smart idea, and I couldn't help but admire her creativity.

Another day at home. It was cloudy this morning, so our plan to go to the park got called off. I thought of going to a small library nearby, which opens at 9 AM and closes at 3 PM. I planned to go after lunch, but my husband @rencalson was busy with work, so I had to cancel that too. Feeling stuck at home with not much to do, I started working on a post for HIVE. I've wanted to write book reviews for a while but never got to it.

Back when I was single, I never made any New Year's Resolution but it was more on my travel goals for the next year. One consistent thing I made was to work more for my travel funds. Now that I am a mother, my priorities are different now. As a new mom, I am so disorganized that I even neglected myself. No more self-care for the first two years of having two kids under two. I have to juggle my life as a mother and a housewife. I just wanted to do nothing and go to sleep. I feel so tired after giving birth to two babies.
