Hello to all the amazing parents here on Hive, especially gardening communities! 💛
Another day means another little story. This time, I’d love to share one of the sweetest bonding moments I have with my three years old daughter – gardening. It’s simple, but it has brought us so much joy.
It started one afternoon when I bought a kilo of mangoes for 75 pesos or 1.5 hbd. They were so sweet and tasty that we enjoyed them together, one slice after another. While cleaning up, I looked at the seeds and thought, “why not plant these?’ My daughter’s eyes lit up when I told her the idea. She loves playing in the soil, so I let her be the one to plant them.
What amazes me is how everything she plants seems to grow. It’s as if her little hands are blessed with a green thumb. She carefully pressed the mango seeds into the soil, giggling as her hands got dirty. For her, it wasn’t just planting, it was fun and playtime.
After three weeks to a month, something beautiful happened. The mango seeds sprouted and tiny green leaves started to appear. I was so amazed! My daughter was even more excited than I was. Every time she checked the seedlings, her face lit up with happiness. We plan to transplant the, into our backyard garden so she can see them grow bigger and be motivated by her own hard work.
Not long after, we also ate durian, Of course, just like the mango, she asked if she could plant the seeds. I smiled and said yeas. Once again, her ‘magic hands’ did not fail – those seeds also sprouted and are now ready to be transplanted. Also, we have an avocado I already transplant to sacks. Its such a joy to see her excitement every time something she plants begins to grow.
From these simple activities, I’ve seen how gardening teaches my daughter important lessons even at her young age. She learns patience while waiting for the seeds to grow. She learns responsibility when she helps water the plants. Most of all, she learns that when you care for something with love, it grows beautifully – just like people.
In our garden, I also have fruit plants I started last year. I’ll admit, with so many responsibilities. I don’t always have the time t check on the regularly. But somehow, they survive. It reminds me that even when we feel we don’t give our beast all the time, the seeds we planted – whether in the soil or in our children’s hearts will continue to grow if we started with love.
Gardening with my daughter may look like a simpela ctivity, but for us, it’s a way to bond, laugh and learn together. Every little sprout is a reminder that life begins with small steps and that even the tiniest hands can nurture something green.
Thank you for reading my little story. This is my own picture, edited in Canva.
Let’s keep planting seeds, not just in our gardens but also in our children’s hearts. One day, we will harvest not only fruits but also the values and memories we sowed together.🌱
good for the body good for the family, good for the heap pocket, a productive garden is just a fantastic goal to achieve
True! A productive garden gives us healthy food. Best to grow own plant and harvest it fresh and no chemicals.
You have many fruit plants already. baby... You are so hardworking like mama. Someday, when they all bear fruit, you can eat them and you don’t need to buy anymore.
