Hello @hivegarden friends! I want to share a story about our small garden and my little girl, Morning Bell. She is only 3 years old, but she already loves flowers and vegetables. Every morning, she goes outside with me to help in the garden. This post is for the #hivegardenqotw challenge, and it’s all about children in the garden.
Morning Belle is always excited to help in the garden. We plant sponge guard, okra and winged beans and many other vegetables together. She loves putting seeds into the soil with her little hands. As the plants grow, she smiles and check on them every day. Sometimes, she talks to the vegetables and gives them cute names like “Baby sponge guard or Little Okra”. These are good for kids because they grow fast and are easy to take care of. We also have flowers like magic rose and small sunflower. They are very bright and happy – just like Morning Belle.
Gardening is a fun way to teach children. Morning Belle is learning how plants grow, what bugs help the garden and why worms are good for the soil. I am the one who explained always for her. She loves to touch the soil and play while learning. Sometimes she makes mistakes, like pulling a plant too early, but that’s okay. She is learning every day. It’s a good way for us to spend time together and avoid using the gadgets to much.
My daughter always comes with me to the garden. At first, we planted vegetables so we could have healthy food for our meals, as time went by, we started selling some of the vegetables. Now, the garden helps us buy her school things and other needs. Sometimes, we also give vegetables to our neighbors. It makes us happy to share the blessings from our small garden.
We also plant herbal plants for Morning Belle’s health. She drinks oregano tea when she has a cough or feels cold. We believe prevention is better than cure, so growing natural medicine at home is very helpful and safe.
