Singapore - Western Comfort Food @ Astons

I realise having been here for so many years, there's actually a lot of places that I enjoy my comfort food, and Astons in definitely one of the places that I frequent a lot for Western cuisine.

The ambience is fine, and the food is decent, and prices are generally quite reasonable (even though they have been creeping up over the years).

One of my recent favourites would be their steak, which can be a little expensive compared to other meats, but I think you pay for the quality and beef/steak is usually not that cheap. One plus point about their menu is that they have a wide range of side dishes and one can just pick any two. Over here, it's corn and potato salad. As of current price, it's SGD 20.90 (~ USD 16).

If I want to go for something light, this would be my go to option, that's Grilled Fish with Herb. Side dishes here would be french fries and coleslaw. This cost SGD 14.50 (~ USD 11).

The most affordable option would be their chicken chop, with a choice of sauces. Over here, I opted for teriyaki sauce, with french fries and coleslaw on the side as well. This cost SGD 13.90 (~ USD 11).

In Singapore, this would be the typical pricing for mid range restaurant dining. To me it's really comfort food. Of course, there are both cheaper and more expensive options elsewhere, but on balance, I think Astons is pretty okay. That said, they used to quite value for money, but with rising costs and inflation in recent years, I would say the food is fairly priced now.

Hope this also gives you a glimpse of the different food options we have in the city. And let me know if you have tried Astons before!
