Bangkok - A Taste Of Something Different @ Tai Er

I know we are in Bangkok, but it doesn't always have to Thai food and cuisine. Bangkok is actually quite an amazing city with international brands when it comes to the food and beverage scenes. Similar to many parts of the world, there's always a recent trend of new Chinese restaurants setting up stores in many countries.

So today's post is about a lunch which I had with a friend at Tai Er, which serves mainly Sichuan cuisine. It's located in one of the popular malls, Centralworld, which I am sure almost everyone would know.

This first dish we ordered was their Signature Sauerkraut Fish. It's both sour and spicy at the same time, so it's quite a refreshing experience of the taste buds. For someone like me who can't take spicy food, it was quite spicy, and I tried to rinse/drain the soup from the fish slices so it was actually okay. Being their signature dish, I think people who don't have problems with spicy food would enjoy it, but for me, I think it's one of those dishes that I would want to try once in my lifetime and that's good enough.

The second dish is one of my favourites when we visit Chinese restaurants from China. It's Shrimps with Vermicelli and Garlic. I like Vermicelli because they are so easy to eat and with the prawns in the pan and the generous amount of garlic, it's just a combination of seafood freshness and the flavourful noodles.

The final dish is Sweet and Sour Pork, nothing too fanciful. It's also a common dish in Chinese cuisine and the best part is, this is not a spicy dish so I can enjoy it! It's done well and I always enjoy the sweet sauce paired with the tangy pineapple bits.

While waiting for the food, there were also some fortune sticks to keep us entertained. I managed to pick this one, which I thought was quite funny. Haha. :P

That's all I have! I can't remember how much the bill came up to, but the price is definitely reasonable for a restaurant, though not considered cheap by any standards. Overall, I enjoyed the non spicy dishes, it's my first time trying Tai Er and I am sure it won't be my last!
