Well friends, back at the beginning, Hive Grove was something quite simple: a tree, watering it once a day, and waiting for friends to stop by your grove to leave a little note—everything was intentionally simple and straightforward.

But as the community grew, requests, ideas, and—of course—many challenges to overcome emerged. This post is here to look back at the beginning but also to talk about the first batch of items born directly from those conversations and community support. Nothing here was invented out of thin air; it all came from your suggestions!

So, let me explain what’s been implemented!

New feature: remove tree

I’ve added a new function to remove a tree that has already been planted. It’s something I thought about adding for a while but held off on until I’d improved other things. You might have been wondering: "Am I stuck with this seed tree forever?" Well, not anymore—now, if you want to remove it, you can.

To help generate some revenue, removing a tree will cost 2 Hive. So, be very careful—for now, once you remove it, that’s it; there’s no refund or return of any kind. I did consider a few mechanics for the removal process, but for the time being, this is how it works.

Of course, I’ll be listening to (and reading) player feedback and analyzing it so we can improve this new feature together if necessary. So, it's very important that everyone participates.

New feature: rearranging trees

But hold on—it's not all doom and gloom! Now you can rearrange the trees on your land without any hassle—and, of course, at no cost! Hehe xD

Simply hover your mouse over your land; when the cursor turns into a little hand, you can click, hold, and drag your tree, then drop it onto another spot to rearrange them.

Improvement: reward option for snaps

A direct suggestion from @forkyishere: if memory serves, the default split was 50/50, so why not let you decide? Now you can choose this setting when sharing a snap directly from the game.

Items: fertilizer and worm

A little boost to help you out!

Two new items that do the same thing but at different intensities: they reduce the tree's watering cooldown the moment you use them.

Some important details on how they work:

• They are single-use — each charge counts for one watering, then disappears.

• The larger the pack, the lower the cost per use — buying the Large pack means paying less per charge than buying the Small pack multiple times.

• Each plot can only have one active item at a time. You cannot stack Fertilizer on top of an Worm for the same tree.

• They are intentionally weaker than help from a friend (which removes 1 hour for free, up to 4 hours a day with 4 assists). This is by design: getting help remains, by far, the most powerful way to speed up your tree. The items are merely a paid supplement, not a shortcut to bypass the social aspect of the game. With this, I wanted to implement the ideas suggested by friends like @cwow2 and @siddhartaz, who are keen on ensuring the game has a way to generate revenue and pay the players; the goal is for the average payout in Hive to increase over time as the player base grows and trees evolve.

For now, there isn't a dedicated menu or page for the inventory. So, after purchasing items, simply go to your land, and three small icons will appear. Just click them to use the items! When you use fertilizer or an worm, the cooldown for the next claim will immediately update to reflect the reduction.

Note

Naturally, I started with items that are fairly standard—nothing too extraordinary—precisely to try and strike a perfect balance between what they offer and their purchase price. Personally, I would prefer to avoid adding more purchasable items, but from what I’ve seen, it’s impossible to sustain a game—even one focused on social interaction—without some form of revenue.

It would be irresponsible of me to have people invest their time and Hive in land and trees only for the game to die out later on. That’s not what I want; that’s why I’ve been brainstorming with the community to create something that works well for everyone.

And a quick reminder: values ​​and item effects are subject to change. I know it’s tricky to tweak things when "money" is involved, but I’m trying to find the right balance for everyone. So, this phase relies heavily on testing and player feedback.

Item: Drone

This idea came directly from a real-world scenario raised by @beelzael: what happens if your watering cycle finishes while you’re asleep, and you can’t open the game until hours later? Help from friends reduces the cooldown, but if you aren't online at the right moment, that saved time simply goes to waste.

The Drone solves this: it sets up the plot to water itself—automatically—the exact moment the tree is ready, even while you’re offline. No need to open the app, no need to click on anything.

Initially, the cost for each size is as follows:

To equip the drone, simply go to your land and click on the "helicopter" icon 😂😂😂😂—that's how you equip it.

Your land will look like this, as shown below. The drone is currently the only item that you can equip and unequip. As for fertilizer and worms, clicking on them applies them immediately to the tree's cycle.

Each charge covers one automatic watering. Bought the Large one? Your tree gets watered 3 times in a row without you having to do a thing—which is great for players whose sleep schedules don't align with the proper watering times. 😂😂😂

Nova função: remover árvore

Adicionei uma nova função que é para remover uma árvore já plantada. Isso é algo que pensei bastante em colocar, mas deixei para depois de melhorar outras coisas. Vocês deviam estar se perguntando, eu ficaria com a seed tree para sempre? Bem, não mesmo, então agora caso você queira remover ela, será possível.

E para aproveitar e gerar uma receita, se você quiser remover, isso custará 2 Hive, então tenha bastante cuidado, pois por enquanto você remove e é o fim, sem retorno de nada. Até pensei em algumas coisas ao remover uma árvore, mas por enquanto vai ser assim.

Claro que vou ouvir (ler) o feedback dos jogadores, analisar e vamos juntos melhorar essa nova função se for preciso. Então é muito importante que todos participem.

Nova função: reorganizar árvores

Mas calma que nem tudo é trevas! Agora você pode reorganizar suas arvores por suas terras sem problemas e claramente sem custos! Hehe xD

Basta você passar o mouse por cima da sua terra e quando o ponteiro virar uma mãozinha, você poderá clicar, segurar e arrastar a sua árvore e soltar em cima de outra, assim, elas serão reorganizadas.

Itens: Fertilizante e Minhoca

Um pequeno empurrãozinho para ajudar!

Dois itens novos que fazem a mesma coisa em intensidades diferentes: tiram um tempinho do cooldown de rega da árvore, na hora em que você usa.

Alguns detalhes importantes de como eles funcionam:

• São de uso único — cada carga vale por uma rega, depois some.

• Quanto maior o pacote, mais barato fica por uso — comprando o Grande você paga menos por carga do que comprando várias vezes o pequeno.

• Cada terreno só pode ter um item ativo por vez. Não dá pra empilhar Fertilizante em cima de Minhoca na mesma árvore.

• Eles são propositalmente mais fracos que uma ajuda de amigo (que já tira 1h de graça, até 4h por dia com 4 ajudas). Isso é de propósito: ajudar continua sendo, de longe, a forma mais forte de acelerar sua árvore. Os itens são só um complemento pago, não um atalho pra pular a parte social do jogo.

Com isso, eu quis implementar a ideia de amigos como @cwow2 e @siddhartaz que se preocupam com que o jogo tenha uma forma de gerar receita e pagar as pessoas que jogam, já que a ideia é que com o passar do tempo, mais jogadores e arvores evoluídas, façam com que a média de pagamento em Hive aumente.

Por enquanto não têm um menu e página específica para o inventário. Então ao comprar os itens, você irá na sua terra e vai aparecer estes 3 ícones pequenos. Com isso é só clicar e usar! Ao usar o fertilizante ou a minhoca, o cooldown do próximo claim já vai atualizar com a redução aplicada.

Observação

Obviamente, comecei com os itens sendo medianos, nada muito incrível, para justamente tentar encontrar um equilíbrio perfeito entre o que eles oferecem e o seu preço de compra. Por mim evitaria o máximo colocar mais coisas para comprar, mas pelo que tenho visto, não tem como manter um jogo, por mais que ele esteja focado em social, se não tiver uma receita.

Seria irresponsabilidade minha as pessoas investirem seu tempo e Hive com as terras e árvores e depois de um tempo o jogo morrer. Não é isso que eu quero, então, tenho pensado em formas juntamente com a comunidade de fazer algo que seja bom para todos.

E sempre um lembrete: os valores podem mudar e o efeito do item também, sei que é complicado ficar mexendo nas coisas quando tem "dinheiro" envolvido, mas estou tentando achar o equilíbrio correto para todos. Então essa parte é sempre de testes e feedback dos jogadores.

Item: Drone

Essa foi direto de uma situação real que @beelzael trouxe: e se a sua rega fica pronta enquanto você está dormindo e você só consegue abrir o jogo horas depois? As ajudas dos amigos reduzem o cooldown, mas se você não está online no momento certo, esse tempo ganho simplesmente se perde.

O Drone resolve isso: arma o terreno para regar sozinho, automaticamente, no exato momento em que a árvore fica pronta — mesmo com você offline. Sem precisar abrir o app, sem precisar clicar em nada.

Inicialmente seu valor para cada tamanho é o que segue abaixo:

Para equipar o drone, basta ir na sua terra e clicar no icone de "helicóptero" 😂😂😂😂 e assim você vai equipar o drone.

A terra vai ficar dessa forma, como mostra abaixo. O drone é o único item no momento que você equipa e desequipa ele. O fertilizante e as minhocas, se você clicar neles já serão aplicados no ciclo da árvore.

Cada carga cobre uma rega automática. Comprou o Grande? Sua árvore fica coberta por 3 regas seguidas sem você precisar fazer nada e isso é ótimo para nossos jogadores que tem uma rotina de sono que não bate com o horário certo de regar. 😂😂😂
