When Jace plays, i think speed, he will always play speed, he is the master of speed, master of fire, the ultimate kitty rider, he will kill all of hist enemies before they even can attack him.
Before even starting, he slows down the opponent twice with Venator Kinjo and Divine Healer and then speeds up his own team with Adelade Brightness' swiftness, this is so Jace for me and playing on speed is such a strong play but it looks like Jace was expecting to see Yodin Zaku as an opponent or at least building a strong team against that possibility.
Putting Venator Kinjo in 2nd position with Reflection Shield and Camouflage is excellent for that but you don't want to see your tank go or it's game over, Jace puts a lot of attention to that by putting 2 x Resurrect in his team with High Priest Darius and Adelade Brightwing + 2 x tank heal with Truthspeaker and Divine Healer, a typical White play as well.
I like to think in terms of the elements when i choose my color, Life is healing, resurrecting, make a team of God and Angels, don't let anybody die!
However, the speed play loses half of its value when the ruleset is 'Aim True', you only get the 'being 1st' advantage, the difference in speed to get a hit doesn't matter, @marianaemilia seems to take that much more into account by putting low speed monsters in the team, my guess is also this was a tournament match and she knew she was going to play speedy Jace, just counting on the fact she would be slower anyway.
Again Life is played as i think it should be played, 2 x Resurrection, 2 x Repair, 2 x Tank Heal and Triage with a big fat Taunt tank just like Jace.
While Life dictates to keep your team alive, we should never forget the importance of a strong attack, Jace goes magic without enforcement, @marianaemilia goes Melee with a +1 enforcement and a Range Snipe Scatter attack of Lone Boatman.
This team attacks to all sides with Sneak, Snipe and Opportunity, that's not my type of play but that makes it even more interesting to look at it for me.
Unfortunately we can not see that come into action because Taunt is there and they all attack on Shieldbearer, this is a blessing from the Gods because the combination of Lone Boatman's scatter followed by a rude double attack of Silvershield Assassin and then melee from Shieldbearer and Cave Slug eliminate the tank from Jace immediately in the first round.
This game is over, without that tank, the team of Jace gets destroyed in no time.
It's a classic but putting a scatter with higher speed remains a very effective suprising strategy to take big tanks out in no time. Even with similar speed, Lone Boatman would go first because range supersedes melee.
I think @marianaemilia's team is difficult to beat, i would dare to put a stronger sneak attack in this game-play, even a much lighter summoner like Lorna Shine or Mother Kala and a much stronger sneak attack like Sand Worm (True Strike!) with the idea of a 1st round survival and a more destroying 1st round attack.
Speed could also still work though, i wonder how a kitty with Feral Spirit, Assassin and Dragon Jumper would do with a +1 melee Angel of Light, that would have been more Jace play, maybe he just didn't have the cards, looks like it was Gold Cards Only 😃
Okay, that was fun, thanks @marianaemilia for letting me in here !!
