Hey battle mages, it’s a new week of splinterlands battles and I’m going to be sharing my most recent battle. I’m honestly not too proud of this one because I feel like it was with a rookie, but a win is a win, right?😂 You’ll understand why I’m saying I think it was a rookie soon enough when we get into the battle details.

Straight from here, I'm sure you can already see how opponent messed up. The one thing you should stay away from in a Briar Patch ruleset is Melee monsters. But somehow, it seems my opponent didn't understand the assignment, which leads me to believe he's actually a rookie. Or maybe they assumed that using ...will somehow offset the effect of the ruleset on his monsters since they'll all have extra armor to balance out the thorns.

Melee attacks are my favorite now cos all the monsters I like to use are melee monsters. Add the fact that I don't like using ranged attacks and you would've deciphered that seeing Briar Patch automatically meant that my strategy was going to be magic. So honestly, if this person was just a little experienced, they could've completely destroyed me. Thank God they weren't.😂
Going for a magic army, I chose Tarsa as my summoner. It's been a while I used her.
Even though I wanted to stay away from melee monsters because of the Briar Patch, I still chose a Mycelic Infantry, a melee monster, for my tank as a decoy to protect the rest of my line up. It has quite considerable melee attack too, so that was a plus. It'll at least do some damage before it's damage does damage back to it. If you get what I mean.
Behind Mycelic Infantry, I had Mycelic Slipspawn. Of course I did. You were expecting I would. I'm not sure I can select a magic line up in a battle with a high mana cap and not select mycelic slipspawn. It has both considerable attack power and a high health. And the monsters I pair it with usually make it a difficult monster to tak down.
Further behind, I had Blackmoor Wild Elf purely for her attack attack. You might criticize me that the position I put her was reckless, but I digress. Where I put her, it would take some time before the two mycelics would be killed, given her enough time to properly wreck my opponent up before she had to go. Her camouflage especially would help her not be killed until it is absolutely in tank position.
Goblin Psychic | Spiritit Hoarder |

The next two monsters were my tanks. Coming in first was Goblin Psychic followed by Spirit Hoarder. Goblin Psychic first so that he could heal my already high health tank, and if he made it to tank position himself, he could heal himself. In the mean time, Spirit Hoarder would heal it and other monsters in the back line.
And finally, Regal Peryton. She's a fast pony (or stag or unicorn or whatever she is) that flies. Lol. I put her last in line because she has the highest chance of missing attacks. And if she doesn't miss the attack, my opponent does damage to themself just by hitting with a melee attack. So I win either way.
The Battle
You can watch the battle here
As you can imagine, all the shield my opponent came into battle with went to waste because my machine evaded the shields and hit his monsters directly. Impressively, he managed to kill Mycelic Slipspawn somewhere into the middle of the battle. His line up wasn't bad, especially if you had all that armor he had. If I had come to battle with anything other than magic, I am very sure I would've lost this battle.

Smart win. Having triage and heal in such a match is nice. I dont know what your opponent was actually thinking.
