A REVIEW OF POTENTIAL TOP 15 ENTRIES

When the EDM week started it was challenging for the majority of the artists that participated. You could see the struggle from the beginning when the inflow was little. A lot of people even thought that EDM was more about fast music and thus did something in that direction, and only very few were able to really do proper EDM music with the majority struggling at some point. For us in Africa, and my country especially (which I know for a fact) EDM isn't really our style, so it's only natural we struggle with it. The rhythm of the flow isn't natural for us, but there are some African artists I watched and would really like to applaud. In the middle of this post I noticed the final 16 list was out and I rushed to check if any of the people I would be reviewing made the list, but unfortunately none did. The judges would definitely have their reasons for not adding them to that list, but then again I think they did beautifully well and deserved a shot.

The first on my list is @oluwadrey also known as pumpdrey 😂. It was great that his song was actually an original. I had been looking forward to his entry from day one and maybe one would say I am biased, but I do not think it disputed the fact that his performance was awesome to say the least. The beat, the lyrics and the rhythm was just on point which makes me wonder why he didn't make the list 🤔. Well, I'm not the judge and there were over 100 participants. After now I will go and listen to the top 16 entries, maybe I will then see what the judges were actually looking for. I don't know much about EDM, but I do know a little about good music and @oluwadrey did really good music.

The second person on my list is @merit.ahama. It's funny how she doesn't look it at all. If you don't know her and you see her introducing a song you would probably be like; What does she want to sing, or can she really sing this song that she's chosen? Well sorry to disappoint you if you ever thought that way of her because she can and has outdone herself this time. When she told me she had done her EDM cover, I couldn't wait to see what exactly she did, and she didn't disappoint me. The thing I love the most about @merit.ahama’s music is her control. She doesn't struggle with her voice even if she would say she does, but she really knows how not to make it obvious unlike some of us 😂. This cover was one of the first beautiful covers I saw during the EDM week which makes me wonder why she didn't make the top 16 list. But then again, I leave that answer to the music professionals. But I'm guessing it's the fact that the EDM genre isn't really our style.

Last but not the list @lorah. I don't know this artist so well and to be honest I came across her entry by mistake because looking from afar and after listening to a lot of not so good entries, I wondered whether this one would be the same, but she proved to be very different. I know three other artists who did the same song as @lorah but I guess this was the best for me. Titanium is a song I'm very familiar with. I liked how she was original in her approach and sang the song like she owned it. At a point I just lay down and listened to the song over and over again because her voice was just so good. Well even though she didn't make the list this time, I'm sure she will make the list next time because she's got what it takes and so does @oluwadrey and @merit.ahama. so I hope to see you with another beautiful entry and possibly in the next top 16 list.
