The Stairs

I often look inside myself
and every time I see
those stairs
that lead down inside me
who knows where
far, far away

Every time I want to descend
those stairs inside myself
and then I get scared
I wonder what might be there inside me?
What if I meet myself inside
and have to face
my own questions
where will I find the answers
to those questions?

That's why I stop every time
and close that door
beyond which lie those stairs
inside me that lead who knows where
far, far away
